Answer:

The velocity of the ions relative to the earth observer is  v = 0.63 c

Explanation:

From the question  we are told that

     The speed of the alien ship is  v_a = 0.3c

     The speed of the iron gun is  v_g = 0.4c

The motion of the ions  relative to the earths observer can be mathematically represented as

       v  =  \frac{v_a + v_g}{[\frac{1+ v_av_g}{c^2} ]}

substituting values

     v  =  \frac{ 0.3c + 0.4c}{[\frac{1+ 0.3c * 0.4c}{c^2} ]}

 =>   v = 0.63 c

An astronaut hits a golf ball of mass m on the Moon, where there is no atmosphere and the acceleration due to gravity is g 6 , w
sasho [114]

Answer:

The magnitude of the average force exerted by the club on the ball during contact = mv/t

Explanation:

Impulse exerted on the ball = Momentum of the ball = mass * velocity = m*v

As we know,

m*v = Integration of F.dt with limits 0 to T

Ft = mv

F = mv/t

The magnitude of the average force exerted by the club on the ball during contact = mv/t

A mass is tied to a string and swung in a horizontal circle with a constant angular speed. show answer No Attempt If this speed
Liono4ka [1.6K]

Answer:

The tension in the string is quadrupled i.e. increased by a factor of 4.

Explanation:

The tension in the string is the centripetal force. This force is given by

F = \dfrac{mv^2}{r}

m is the mass, v is the velocity and r is the radius.

It follows that F \propto v^2, provided m and r are constant.

When v is doubled, the new force, F_1, is

F_1 = \dfrac{m(2v)^2}{r} = \dfrac{4mv^2}{r} = 4\dfrac{mv^2}{r} = 4F

Hence, the tension in the string is quadrupled.
