14. The design for a rotating spacecraft below consists of two rings. The outer ring with a radius of 30 m holds the living quar

ters and mimics the surface gravity of Earth, approximately 9.80 m/s'. The inner ring is designed to help the astronauts become accustom to the surface gravity of a new planet: 5.35 m/s. Calculate the spacecraft's period of rotation for the outer ring.

Answer:

T= 11.0003s

Explanation:

From the question we are told that

The outer ring with a radius of 30 m

inner Gravity Approximately 9.80 m/s'

Outer Gravity Approximately 5.35 m/s.

Generally  the equation for centripetal force is given mathematically as

Centripetal acceleration enables Rotation therefore?

     \omega ^2 r =Angular\ acc

Considering the outer ring,

 \omega ^2 r = 9.8

  \omega ^2= \frac{9.8}{30}

 \omega = \sqrt{\frac{9.8}{30}}

 \omega= 0.571 rad/s

Therefore solving for  Period T

Generally the equation for solving Period T is mathematically given as

 T= \frac{2\pi}{\omega}

 T= \frac{2\pi}{0.571 rad/s}

 T= 11.0003s

Two separate but nearby coils are mounted along the same axis. A power supply controls the flow of current in the first coil, an
gulaghasi [49]

Complete Question

The complete question is shown on the first uploaded image

Answer:

  The correct answer is option c

Explanation:

Faraday states that when there is a change in magnetic field of a coil of a wire, it means that there exist an emf in the circuit which in induced due to the change in the magnetic flux

From the question  two separate but nearby coils are mounted along the axis. First coil is connected to the power supply and the current flow is controlled by the supply.When the current alternates, it would produce magnetic field ,also the second coil is connected to an ammeter which indicates the current that is flowing in it when current in the first coil changes

This magnetic field that is produce would cause a change flux which would induce current in the second coil so the ammeter would indicate current flow in the second coil

a is incorrect because the current in fir coil is not change hence flux won't change therefore current is is not induced in second coil

This is the same reason b is incorrect

d is incorrect due to the fact that when the second coil is connected to a power supply by rewiring it to be in series with first coil the law of electromagnetism would no longer hold so he ammeter would show no reading

A plate drops onto a smooth floor and shatters into three pieces of equal mass.Two of the pieces go off with equal speeds v at r
Firlakuza [10]

Answer:

Speed of the this part is given as

v_3 = \sqrt2 v

Also the direction of the velocity of the third part of plate is moving along 135 degree with respect to one part of the moving plate

Explanation:

As we know by the momentum conservation of the system

we will have

P_1 + P_2 + P_3 = P_i

here we know that

P_1 = P_2

the momentum of two parts are equal in magnitude but perpendicular to each other

so we will have

P_1 + P_2 = \sqrt{P^2 + P^2}

P_1 + P_2 = \sqrt2 mv

now from above equation we have

P_3 = -(P_1 + P_2)

mv_3 = -(\sqrt 2 mv)

v_3 = \sqrt2 v

Also the direction of the velocity of the third part of plate is moving along 135 degree with respect to one part of the moving plate

A mass weighing 4 lb stretches a spring 2 in. Suppose that the mass is given an additional 6-in displacement in the positive dir
givi [52]

Answer:

\frac{1}{8} y'' + 2y' + 24y=0

Explanation:

The standard form of the 2nd order differential equation governing the motion of mass-spring system is given by

my'' + \zeta y' + ky=0

Where m is the mass, ζ is the damping constant, and k is the spring constant.

The spring constant k can be found by

w - kL=0

mg - kL=0

4 - k\frac{1}{6}=0

k = 4\times 6 =24

The damping constant can be found by

F = -\zeta y'

6 = 3\zeta

\zeta = \frac{6}{3} = 2

Finally, the mass m can be found by

w = 4

mg=4

m = \frac{4}{g}

Where g is approximately 32 ft/s²

m = \frac{4}{32} = \frac{1}{8}

Therefore, the required differential equation is

my'' + \zeta y' + ky=0

\frac{1}{8} y'' + 2y' + 24y=0

The initial position is

y(0) = \frac{1}{2}

The initial velocity is

y'(0) = 0

A 12 volt car battery produces more current than a 1.5 volt battery for a TV remote because...
gavmur [86]

This question is loaded with misleading, marginally meaningful phrases.

A 12V battery produces more current than a 1.5V battery produces,
through the same device, because the potential difference between
the terminals of the 12V battery is 8 times the potential difference
between the terminals of the 1.5V battery.

Of the choices offered, choice 'C' is the closest.  But it should say
"electrical potential", NOT "potential energy".
