The equilibrium constant, Kc, for the reaction below is 0.10 at 25oC. Find the equilibrium concentration of chlorine gas, Cl2(g)

, if the equilibrium concentrations of ICl(g) and I2(g) are known to be 0.50 M and 0.40 M respectively.

Answer:

The equilibrium concentration of chlorine gas, Cl₂(g), is 0.0625 M

Explanation:

Chemical equilibrium is established when there are two opposite reactions that take place simultaneously at the same speed, so that no changes are observed as time passes, despite the fact that the substances present continue to react with each other.

The mathematical expression that represents Chemical Equilibrium is known as the Law of Mass Action and is stated as: The ratio of the product of high concentrations to the stoichiometric coefficients in the reaction of products and reactants remains constant at equilibrium. For any reaction:

aA + bB ⇄ cC + dD

the equilibrium constant Kc is calculated as:

Kc=\frac{[C]^{c} *[D]^{d} }{[A]^{a} *[B]^{b}}

In this case, you have:

2 ICl(g) → Cl₂(g) + I₂(g)

So, the equilibrium constant Kc is:

Kc=\frac{[Cl_{2} ]*[I_{2} ]}{[ICl]^{2} }

Being:

  • Kc= 0.10
  • [Cl₂]= ?
  • [ICl]= 0.50 M
  • [I₂]= 0.40 M

Replacing:

0.1=\frac{[Cl_{2} ]*0.40 M}{(0.50 M)^{2} }

Solving:

0.1=\frac{[Cl_{2} ]*0.40 M}{0.25 M^{2} }

0.1= 1.6 \frac{1}{M}* [Cl₂]

[Cl₂]= 0.1 ÷ 1.6 \frac{1}{M}

[Cl₂]= 0.0625 M

<u><em>The equilibrium concentration of chlorine gas, Cl₂(g), is 0.0625 M</em></u>

finlep [7]
The correct option is C.
A Lewis dot diagram is a representation of the valence electron of  an atom, which uses dot around the symbol of the atom. Chlorine has seven electrons in its outermost shell, these seven electrons are arranged in form of dot around the atom of chlorine. If you count the number of dot given in option C, you will notice that they are seven.

Kaia, a chemical engineering graduate, has documented all titration procedures in her project report. She refers to this report
vagabundo [1.1K]

Answer:

The correct option is;

d. Explicit knowledge

Explanation:

Explicit knowledge is the knowledge that can be easily articulated documented stored in a retrieval system accesses, transmitted and shared with others

Tacit knowledge is the skill developed by an individual based on actual experience such that such knowledge comprise of both facts and perspectives

Hence explicit knowledge and tacit knowledge are complementary

The operations performed by Kaia include documentation, storing in a retrieval system (her project report) and accessing what she documented, this is an example of explicit knowledge.

Physical properties of glass bottle
Paul [167]
Glass is a hard substance that consists of sand, soda ash and limestone. When these substances are heated together, their molecules bond to form the substance we know as glass. We use glass for many purposes, and glass bottles have become a popular method of storage, as well as being used in chemical experiments.

Which choice(s) correctly rank(s) the bonds in terms of increasing polarity?
Marina CMI [18]

Answer:

(II) only correctly rank the bonds in terms of increasing polarity.

Explanation:

Bond polarity is proportional to difference in electronegativity between bonded atoms.

Atoms    Electronegativity          Bond        Electronegativity difference

Cl                          3.0                       Cl-F                      1.0

Br                          2.8                       Br-Cl                     0.2

F                            4.0                       Cl-Cl                      0

H                            2.1                       H-C                       0.4

C                            2.5                       H-N                       0.9

N                             3.0                      H-O                       1.4

O                             3.5                      Br-F                       1.2

I                               2.7                      I-F                         1.3

Si                             1.9                      Cl-F                       1.0

P                              2.2                      Si-Cl                      1.1

                                                          Si-P                        0.3

                                                          Si-C                        0.6

                                                           Si-F                        2.1

So, clearly, order of increasing polarity : O-H > N-H > C-H

So, (II) only correctly rank the bonds in terms of increasing polarity

analysis of a compound indicates that it contains 1.04 grams K 0.70 g Cr and 0.86 g O. Find its empirical formula
MrMuchimi
1.04gK*1molK/39.01g K= 0.0267 mol K
0.70gCr*1mol/52.0g Cr = <span>0.0135 mol Cr
0.86 gO* 1 mol/16.0 g O = 0.0538 mol O
</span>0.0267 mol K/0.0135 = 2 mol K
0.0135 mol Cr  /0.0135= 1 mol Cr
 0.0538 mol O/0.035= 4 mol Cr
