Hello :
 <span>an equation of the circle Center at the w(a,b) and ridus : r is :
(x-a)² +(y-b)² = r²
In this exercice : (x-3)²+y²=7²   ....a =3 and b=0 ( the center is :w(3,0))  ...    r=7
The distance between each point in each case is calculated and compared with the length of the radius

Answer:

The point (-1, 1) lies in interior of circle.

The point (10,0) lies on the circumference of circle.

The point (4,-8) lies on the exterior of circle.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The circle with the equation (x - 3)^2+y^2 =49

We have to  determine the location of each point with respect to the graph of the circle. also state whether each point is on the interior, exterior, or circumference of the circle.

<u>Interior point of a circle :</u>

A point is said to be interior when the distance of point from the center is less than the radius.

<u>Exterior point of a circle :</u>

A point is said to be exterior when the distance of point from the center is greater than the radius.

<u>Circumference of a circle :</u>

A point is said to be at circumference when the distance of point from the center is equal the radius.

For the point (-1, 1)

Put in the given equation of circle (x - 3)^2+y^2 =49

Consider LHS of equation

(x - 3)^2+y^2

put x = -1 and y = 1

(-1-3)^2+1^2=16+1 = 17

So, the point (-1, 1) lies in interior of circle.

For the point (10, 0)

Put in the given equation of circle (x - 3)^2+y^2 =49

Consider LHS of equation

(x - 3)^2+y^2

put x = 10 and y = 0

(10-3)^2+0^2=49=49

So, the point (10,0) lies on the circumference of circle.

For the point (4,-8)

Put in the given equation of circle (x - 3)^2+y^2 =49

Consider LHS of equation

(x - 3)^2+y^2

put x = 4 and y = -8

(4-3)^2+(-8)^2=1+64=65>49

So, the point (4,-8) lies on the exterior of circle.

JL has coordinates J(-6, 1) and L(-4,3).<br> Find the coordinates of the midpoint.
ikadub [295]

Answer:

The coordinates of the mid-point of JL are (-5 , 2)

Step-by-step explanation:

If point (x , y) is the mid-point of a segment whose end-points are (x_{1},y_{1}) and (x_{2},y_{2}), then x=\frac{x_{1}+x_{2}}{2} and  y=\frac{y_{1}+y_{2}}{2}

∵ JL is a segment

∵ The coordinates of J are (-6 , 1)

∴  x_{1} = -6 and  y_{1} = 1

∵ The coordinates of L are (-4 , 3)

∴  x_{2} = -4 and  y_{2} = 3

Lets use the rule above to find the mid-point of JL

∵ x=\frac{-6+-4}{2}=\frac{-10}{2}

∴ x = -5

∴ The x-coordinate of the mid-point is -5

∵ y=\frac{1+3}{2}=\frac{4}{2}

∴ y = 2

∴ The y-coordinate of the mid-point is 2

∴ The coordinates of the mid-point of JL are (-5 , 2)

Jlenok [28]
Let x be the number of friends.

He wants to give out 2x bars and have 10 left  and he has 16 bars  so the expression is:-

2x + 10 = 16

now he can solve for x  to find the number of friends he can treat.

Solve x2 - 8x - 9 = 0. Rewrite the equation so that it is of the form x2 + bx = c.
barxatty [35]

Answer:

x=9,-1  and x^2+(-8)x=9

Explanation:

we have been given with the quadratic equation x^2-8x-9

we compare the given quadratic equation with general quadratic equation

general quadratic is ax^2+bx+c=0

from given quadratic equation a=1,b= -8,c= -9

substituting these values in the formula for discriminant D=b^{2}-4ac

D=(-8)^2-4(1)(-9)=100

Now, to find the value of x

Formula is x=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt{D}}{2a}

Now, substituting the values we will get

x=\frac{-(-8)\pm\sqrt{100}} {2}= \frac{8\pm10}{2}=9,-1

And rewritting the given equation by  shifting 9 to right hand side of the given equation and taking minus inside the bracket so as to convert it in the form of

x^2+bx=c

State the size of angle OAB, giving a reason for your answer
Alja [10]

Answer:

Angle OAB = 90°

Reason: tangent theorem of a circle

Step-by-step explanation:

The diagram given shows a tangent line of the given circle with center O. The tangent touches the circle at point A.

The diagram also shows the radius of the circle, OA, drawn from the center to the circle to meet at the point of tangency.

Thus, according to the Tangent Theorem of a circle, the point at which the radius drawn from the center meets the point of tangency = 90°. The tangent is perdendicular to the radius drawn to meet at the point of tangency.

Therefore, angle OAB = 90°
