Rachel has an unknown sample of a radioisotope listed in the table. Using a special technique, she is able to measure the mass o

f just the unknown isotope as 104.8 kg at 12:02:00 P.M. At 4:11:00 P.M. on the same day, the mass of the unknown radioisotope is 13.1 kg. Which radioisotope is in the sample?

Answer:

Barium-139

Explanation:

initial mass of the sample at 12:02:00 PM is given as

m_1 = 104.8 kg

Mass of the sample at 4:11:00 PM is given as

m_2 = 13.1 kg

so here since it is a sample of radioactive isotope so here we will say

m_2 = m_1 e^{-\lambda t}

now from above data we know that the time taken to reduce the mass is

t = 4 hours 9 minutes

t = 4.15 hours

now from above equation we will have

13.1 = 104.8 e^{-\lambda(4.15)}

\lambda(4.15) = 2.08

\lambda = 0.50 per hour

so here half life is given as

T_{1/2} = \frac{ln2}{\lambda}

T_{1/2} = 1.4 hours

So here this isotope must be the one which will have half life of 1.4 hours

So it is nearly Barium-139

orbit the Sun

range in size from a few feet to more than 500 miles across

most are found in the asteroid belt

Explanation:

Asteroids are rocky bodies orbiting the sun. Asteroids are irregular is shape and size. The size varies from few feet to 500 miles across. Majority of the asteroids lie in asteroid belt which lies between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. These are though to be remains of unformed planet about 4.6 billion years ago due to high gravitational pull of Jupiter. The largest asteroid is Ceres which is also a dwarf planet. The mass of the entire asteroid belt is just 4% the  mass of the moon.

A 0.305 kg book rests at an angle against one side of a bookshelf. The magnitude and direction of the total force exerted on the
tankabanditka [31]

Answer

given,

F_L= 1.52\ N

\theta_L= 31^0

mass of book = 0.305 Kg

so, from the diagram attached  below

F_L cos {\theta_L} + F_b sin {\theta_b} = m g

1.52 times cos {31^0} + F_b sin {\theta_b} = 0.305 \times 9.8

F_b sin {\theta_b} = 2.989 -1.303

F_b sin {\theta_b} = 1.686

computing horizontal component

F_b cos {\theta_b} = F_L sin {\theta_L}

cos {\theta_b} = \dfrac{F_L sin {\theta_L}}{F_b}

cos {\theta_b} = \dfrac{1.52 \times sin {31^0}}{1.686}

cos {\theta_b} = 0.464

θ = 62.35°

uranmaximum [27]
<h2>Apartment Explosion Reported </h2>

The apartment’s explosion, reportedly caused by a gas leak, produced a violent release of gas and heat. The heat increased the temperature of the air in the room, which means an increase in the air's molecular kinetic energy.

When heat is provided then temperature increases and the molecules of substances move rapidly by increase of kinetic energy (K.E) temperature increases. It is understood that heat increases temperature.
