Each week, Rosario drives to an ice skating rink that is 60 miles away. The round-trip takes 2.75 hours. If he averages 55 miles

per hour on his way to the rink, which equation can be used to find x, the number of miles per hour he averages on his way home?

We have to use physics: vm = d/t
Where vm = average velocity
d = distance that one travel
t = time in which you travel

Using this formula we know that t = d/vm

First, we find how much time does it take to the rink:
t = 120/55

After we find out the time we have left:
2.75-120/55

Using the same formula we can now calculate the average on his way home =
120/(2.75-120/55)

The final equation:
x= 120/(2.75-120/55) = 211,2 miles per hour

Answer:

He averages 36.14 miles per hour on his way home

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Rosario drives to an ice skating rink that is 60 miles  round-trip takes 2.75 hours. If he averages 55 miles per hour on his way to the rink

To Find: Find out the number of miles per hour he averages on his way home

Solution:

Total time taken for the trip = 2.75 hours

FIRST CASE : Rosario on his way to the rink

distance traveled to ice skating rink = 60 miles

average miles per hour on his way to the rink = 55 miles per hour

So, time taken on his way to rink  = \frac{Distance}{Speed} =\frac{60}{55}

SECOND CASE: Rosario on his way to the home

Distance traveled to the home = 60 miles

Let Average miles per hour on his way to the home =  x

So, time taken on his way to the home =  \frac{Distance}{Speed} =\frac{60}{x}

Since the total time was 2.75 hours

⇒2.75=\frac{60}{55} +\frac{60}{x}

⇒2.75=1.09+\frac{60}{x}

⇒1.66=\frac{60}{x}

⇒x=\frac{60}{1.66}

⇒x=36.14

Thus , He averages 36.14 miles per hour on his way home

marishachu [46]

Answer:

employment plan for the next 12 months is not independent of the type of company

Step-by-step explanation:

H0 : employment plan for the next 12 months is independent of the type of company

H1 : employment plan for the next 12 months is not independent of the type of company

The Chisquare statistic, χ² :

χ² = (observed - Expected)²/ Expected

Given the data:

Observed values :

_________________ Company

Emp plan ________ private _____ public _total

Add employees _____ 37 ________ 32 __ 69

No change__________19 ________ 34 __53

Layoff employees ____ 16 ________ 42__58

Total ______________72 ________108 _ 180

The expected value counts :

(Row total * column total) / grand total

Expected Values:

27.6 ___41.4

21.2 ___ 31.8

23.2 ___34.8

Chi-Squared Values:

3.20145 ___2.1343

0.228302__ 0.152201

2.23448 ____1.48965

χ² = (3.20145 + 2.1343 + 0.228302 + 0.152201 + 2.23448 + 1.48965)

χ² = 9.440383

Degree of freedom, df (row - 1) * (column - 1) = (3-1) * (2 - 1) = 2 * 1 = 2

Pvalue from Chisquare statistic, df = 2

Pvalue = 0.008913

Since ;

Pvalue < α ; We reject the null and conclude that employment plan for the next 12 months is not independent of the type of company.

Iesha’s quality-control manager told her she must have 97% of her clocks functioning properly. She found a report that said 6 ou
german

Answer:

  • Keisha’s experimental probability is 1/50.
  • When the inventory is 4000 clocks, the prediction is that 3920 clocks will work.
  • Keisha will have more than 97% of the products working.

Step-by-step explanation:

These are three prediction that Keisha can make based on the report that said 6 of 300 clocks tested weren't working.

Base on that information, Keisha can calculate an experimental probability, dividing <em>clocks that don't work properly </em>by <em>the total amount of clocks</em><em>:</em>

<em>P_{clocks} = \frac{6}{300}=\frac{1}{50} = 0.02 (or 2\%)</em>

Therefore, the probability of success is 100% - 2% = 98%.

This means that Keisha has a probability of having 98% of all clocks functioning properly. So, she can make the prediction:<em> from 4000 clocks, 3920 will work. </em>Also, she can predict that she will actually have more than 97% working, because the experimental probability is higher than that.

Let X denote the temperature (degree C) and let Y denote thetime in minutes that it takes for the diesel engine on anautomobile
BlackZzzverrR [31]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given f_{XY} (x,y) = c(4x + 2y +1) ; 0 < x < 40\,and\, 0 < y

a)

we know that \int\limits^\infty_{-\infty}\int\limits^\infty_{-\infty} {f(x,y)} \, dxdy=1

therefore \int\limits^{40}_{-0}\int\limits^2_{0} {c(4x+2y+1)} \, dxdy=1

on integrating we get

c=(1/6640)

b)

P(X>20, Y>=1)=\int\limits^{40}_{20}\int\limits^2_{1} {\frca{1}{6640}(4x+2y+1)} \, dxdy

on doing the integration we get

                        =0.37349

c)

marginal density of X is

f(x)=\int\limits^2_{0} {\frca{1}{6640}(4x+2y+1)} \, dy

on doing integration we get

f(x)=(4x+3)/3320 ; 0<x<40

marginal density of Y is

f(y)=\int\limits^{40}_{0} {\frca{1}{6640}(4x+2y+1)} \, dx

on doing integration we get

f(y)=\frac{(y+40.5)}{83}

d)

P(01)=\int\limits^{40}_{0}\int\limits^2_{1} {\frca{1}{6640}(4x+2y+1)} \, dxdy

solve the above integration we get the answer

e)

P(X>20, 0

solve the above integration we get the answer

f)

Two variables are said to be independent if there jointprobability density function is equal to the product of theirmarginal density functions.

we know f(x,y)

In the (c) bit we got f(x) and f(y)

f(x,y)cramster-equation-2006112927536330036287f(x).f(y)

therefore X and Y are not independent

A random draw is being designed for 210 participants. A single winner is to be chosen, and all the participants must have an equ
Over [174]

Answer: The correct number of balls is (b) 4.

Step-by-step explanation:  Given that a single winner is to be chosen in a random draw designed for 210 participants. Also, there is an equal probability of winning for each participant.

We are using 10 balls, numbered through 0 to 9. We are to find the number of balls which needs to be picked up, regardless of order, so that each of the 210 participants can be assigned a unique set of numbers.

Let 'r' represents the number of balls to be picked up.

Since we are choosing from 10 balls, so we must have

^{10}C_r=210.

The value of 'r' can be any one of 0, 1, 2, . . , 10.

Now,

if r = 1, then

^{10}C_1=\dfrac{10!}{1!(10-1)!}=\dfrac{10!}{1!9!}=\dfrac{10\times 9!}{1\times 9!}=10

If r = 2, then

^{10}C_2=\dfrac{10!}{2!(10-2)!}=\dfrac{10!}{2!8!}=\dfrac{10\times 9\times 8!}{2\times 1\times 8!}=45

If r = 3, then

^{10}C_3=\dfrac{10!}{3!(10-3)!}=\dfrac{10!}{3!7!}=\dfrac{10\times 9\times 8\times 7!}{3\times 2\times 1\times 7!}=120

If r = 4, then

^{10}C_4=\dfrac{10!}{4!(10-4)!}=\dfrac{10!}{4!6!}=\dfrac{10\times 9\times 8\times\times 7\times 6!}{4\times 3\times 2\times 1\times 6!}=210.

Therefore, we need to pick 4 balls so that each participant can be assigned a unique set of numbers.

Thus, (b) is the correct option.
