Guidelines for the jolly blue giant health insurance company say that the average hospitalization for a triple hernia operation

should not exceed 30 hours. a diligent auditor studied records of 16 randomly chosen triple hernia operations at hackmore hospital, and found a mean hospital stay of 40 hours with a standard deviation of 20 hours. "aha!" she cried, "the average stay exceeds the guideline." the p-value for a right-tailed test of her hypothesis is:

To solve this problem, we make use of the t statistic. So what we have to do is to calculate for the t score in this case and using the standard distribution tables, we locate for the p value using the t score value.

The formula for t score is given as:

t = (x – μ) / (σ / sqrt(n))

Where,

x = statistical mean of the sample = 40

n=number of individuals in the sample = 16

s=standard deviation = 20

μ=Population Mean = 30

Substituting the given values:

t = (40 – 30) / (20 / sqrt 16)

t = 10 / 5

t = 2

Using the standard distribution tables at degrees of freedom = n – 1 = 15, the value of p to the right is:

p = 0.032

Yesterday, the snow was 2 feet deep in front of Archie’s house. Today, the snow depth dropped to 1.6 feet because the day is so
IgorLugansk [536]
Change in snow = 2 - 1.6 = 0.4 ft

-> percent change = 0.4/2 * 100% = 0.2 * 100% = 20%

Identify the triangle that contains an acute angle for which the sine and cosine ratios are equal. 1. Triangle A B C has angle m
MAXImum [283]

Answer:

The correct option: (2) Triangle ABC that has angle measures 45°, 45° and 90°.

Step-by-step explanation:

It is provided that a triangle ABC has an acute angle for which the sine and cosine ratios are equal to 1.

Let the acute angle be m∠A.

For the sine and cosine ratio of m∠A to be equal to 1, the value of Sine of m∠A should be same as value of Cosine of m∠A.

The above predicament is possible for only one acute angle, i.e. 45°, since the value of Sin 45° and Cos 45° is,

                                 Sin\ 45^{o} =Cos\ 45^{o} = \frac{1}{\sqrt{2} }

So for acute angle 45° the ratio of Sin 45° and Cos 45° is:

                                         \frac{Sin\ 45^{o}}{Cos\ 45^{o}} = \frac{\frac{1}{\sqrt{2} } }{\frac{1}{\sqrt{2} } } = 1

Hence one of the angles of a triangle is, m∠A = 45°.

Comparing with the options provided the triangle is,

Triangle ABC that has angle measures 45°, 45° and 90°.

Thus, the provided triangle is a right angled isosceles triangle, since it has two similar angles.

The gas mileage for a certain vehicle can be approximated by m=−0.05x2+3.5x−49, where x is the speed of the vehicle in mph. Dete
Whitepunk [10]

Answer:

<h2>14mph</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the gas mileage for a certain vehicle modeled by the equation m=−0.05x²+3.5x−49 where x is the speed of the vehicle in mph. In order to determine the speed(s) at which the car gets 9 mpg, we will substitute the value of m = 9 into the modeled equation and calculate x as shown;

m = −0.05x²+3.5x−49

when m= 9

9 = −0.05x²+3.5x−49

−0.05x²+3.5x−49 = 9

0.05x²-3.5x+49 = -9

Multiplying through by 100

5x²+350x−4900 = 900

Dividing through by 5;

x²+70x−980 = 180

x²+70x−980 - 180 = 0

x²+70x−1160 = 0

Using the general formula to get x;

a = 1, b = 70, c = -1160

x = -70±√70²-4(1)(-1160)/2

x = -70±√4900+4640)/2

x = -70±(√4900+4640)/2

x = -70±√9540/2

x =  -70±97.7/2

x = -70+97.7/2

x = 27.7/2

x = 13.85mph

x ≈ 14 mph

Hence, the speed(s) at which the car gets 9 mpg to the nearest mph is 14mph

Julia is offered a job selling advertising for two different companies. Company A offers a base salary of $30,000 per year plus
patriot [66]
A=30000+0.03S and B=25000+0.05S.
When A=B, 5000=0.02S, so S=$250000 when the earnings are the same.
The slope of A is smaller than that of B. In excess of this value of S B pays more than A and below it A pays more than B.
So answer option B. (When S=0, clearly A is better than B. Put S=$300000, A pays $39000 and B pays $40000).
