How calculate how many milliliters of glycerin (specific gravity=1.26) will have a mass of 0.75 lbs?

Chemistry

Dimas [21]2 years ago

Specific gravity is the ratio between the density of the material to the density of water at 4 degrees celcius (density of water at this temperature is 1000 kg/m^3)

1.26 = density of glycerin / 1000
density of glycerin = 1260 kg/m^3

1 Kg is equivalent to 2.2 lbs, therefore:
0.75 lbs = 0.34 kg

density = mass/volume
1260 = 0.34/volume
volume = 0.34/1260 = 2.857 x 10^-4 m^3

now, 1 m^3 is equivalent to 1000 liters
2.857 x 10^-4 m^3 = 0.2857 liters

one liter is equivalent to 1000 ml
therefore,
0.2857 l = 285.7 ml

valkas [14]

Answer:

33km due south

Explanation:

Morant Bay is 33km south of Port Antonio;

  Problem: displacement of Morant bay from Port Antonio;

Displacement is a vector quantity. It is the length of path between two position and the direction inclusive.

So, it has magnitude and must be specified with a direction.

  • Therefore, the displacement of Morant Bay from Port Antonio is 33km due south.

A medical class is hearing a lecture on vision. The doctor asks them what happens when the eye produces too much fluid, causing
Charra [1.4K]

Answer:

The doctor is discussing an Ocular Hypertension disease.

Explanation:

If we have a small space with a defined volume like in this case an eye, when we fill this space with a liquid, the liquid will occupy the whole volume available, and when it is much liquid or fluid, and the volume of the eye can not expand it will start to generate an internal pressure. This higher pressure is called Hypertension.

In redox half-reactions, a more positive standard reduction potential means I. the oxidized form has a higher affinity for elect
qwelly [4]

Answer:

The 1st and 4th options are correct

I.the oxidized form has a higher affinity for electrons

IV. the greater the tendency for the oxidized form to accept electrons

Explanation:

Half reaction can be described as the oxidation or reduction reaction in a redox reaction.it is In the redox rection there is a change in the oxidation states of Chemical species involved. the oxidized form in the redox has a higher affinity for electrons and the greater the tendency for the oxidized form to accept electrons.

Standard reduction potential which is also referred to as standard cell potential can be described as the potential difference that exist between cathode and anode of the cell. In the standard reduction potential most times the species will be reduced which is usually analysed in a reduction half reaction.

(Standard Hydrogen Electrode) is utilized when determining the Standard reduction or potentials of a chemical specie. this is because of Hydrogen having zero reduction and oxidation potentials, as a result of this a measured potential of any species is compared with that of Hydrogen, the difference helps to know the potential reduction of that particular specie.

In a favorable reaction, the free energy of the products is ________ the free energy of the reactants. In a favorable reaction,
steposvetlana [31]

Answer:

In a favorable reaction, the free energy of the products is less than the free energy of the reactants.

Explanation:

The free energy of a system is the amount of a system's internal energy that is available to perform work. The different forms of free energy include Gibbs free energy and Helmholtz free energy.

In a system at constant temperature and pressure, the energy that can be converted into work or the amount of usable energy in that system is known as Gibbs free energy. In a system at constant temperature and volume, the energy that can be converted into work is known as Helmholtz free energy.

The change in free energy of a system is the maximum usable energy that is released or absorbed by a system when it goes from the initial state (i.e., all reactants) to the final state (i.e., all products).

In a chemical reaction, some bonds in the reactants are broken by absorbing energy and new bonds are formed in the products by releasing energy. As the reaction proceeds, the free energy of reactants is much greater than the products. As the products are formed, the concentration of reactants decreases and the difference in their free energy also decreases. This chemical reaction will occur until chemical equilibrium is achieved i.e., the free energy of the products and reactants is equal and the difference in their free energy is zero.
