Answer: Principal = $10000

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we have given that

Rate of interest = 6%

Interest = $3000

Number of years = 5 years

As we know that "Simple interest":

Interest=\dfrac{P\times R\times T}{100}\\\\3000=\dfrac{P\times 5\times 6}{100}\\\\3000=\dfrac{30\times P}{100}\\\\3000\times 100=30P\\\\\dfrac{300000}{30}=P\\\\\$10000=P

Hence, Principal = $10000

Mila [183]

Answer:

  • <u><em>Option b. just below 30%</em></u>

<u><em></em></u>

Explanation:

Please, see attached the <em>histogram that represents the distribution of acceptance rates (percent accepted) among 25 business schools in 2004. </em>

<em />

The<em> median</em> is the value that separates the lower 50% from the upper 50% of the data.

Since there are 25 business schools, the middle value is the number 13.

The height of each bar is the<em> frequency</em> or number of business school for that acceptace rate:

  • The first bar has frequency of 1 school
  • The second bar has frequency of 3 schools: cummulative frequency: 1+3=4.
  • The third bar has frequency 5 schools: cummulative frequency 4 + 5 = 9.
  • The fourth bar has frequency 3 schools: cummulative frequency: 9+3=12.

Then, the 13th value is on the next bar, the fifth bar.

The fifth bar has acceptance rates 25  ≤ rate < 30.

That means that the median acceptance rate is greater than or equal to 25 and less than 30.

Thus, the choice is the option <em>b. just below 30%.</em>

Anna71 [15]
The answer is 13. To figure this out I used 10 notebooks sold as a guide. I knew the answer could not be 10, because $27.95/10 was not a number stopping in the hundredths place (or a true money amount).

I tried numbers greater than 10 using a trial and error strategy until I got to 13 notebooks sold and found that it $27.95 was divisible by 13 to get an answer between $2 and $3 ($2.15 exactly).

A charity receives 2025 contributions. Contributions are assumed to be mutually independent and identically distributed with mea
uysha [10]

Answer:

The 90th percentile for the distribution of the total contributions is $6,342,525.

Step-by-step explanation:

To solve this question, we need to understand the normal probability distribution and the central limit theorem.

Normal probability distribution

Problems of normally distributed samples are solved using the z-score formula.

In a set with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the zscore of a measure X is given by:

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

The Z-score measures how many standard deviations the measure is from the mean. After finding the Z-score, we look at the z-score table and find the p-value associated with this z-score. This p-value is the probability that the value of the measure is smaller than X, that is, the percentile of X. Subtracting 1 by the pvalue, we get the probability that the value of the measure is greater than X.

Central Limit Theorem

The Central Limit Theorem estabilishes that, for a normally distributed random variable X, with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the sampling distribution of the sample means with size n can be approximated to a normal distribution with mean \mu and standard deviation s = \frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}.

For a skewed variable, the Central Limit Theorem can also be applied, as long as n is at least 30.

For sums of size n, the mean is \mu*n and the standard deviation is s = \sqrt{n}*\sigma

In this question:

n = 2025, \mu = 3125*2025 = 6328125, \sigma = \sqrt{2025}*250 = 11250

The 90th percentile for the distribution of the total contributions

This is X when Z has a pvalue of 0.9. So it is X when Z = 1.28. Then

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

By the Central Limit Theorem

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{s}

1.28 = \frac{X - 6328125}{11250}

X - 6328125 = 1.28*11250

X = 6342525

The 90th percentile for the distribution of the total contributions is $6,342,525.

The length of a rectangle is 24 units. can the perimeter x of the rectangle be 60 units when its width y is 11 units? (1 point)
Sergio [31]

Okay, well we start out with the equation P=66, where P is perimeter. You should create equations using variables to explain each piece of information you are given. Follow the equations below and see if you can understand how to do another one like this. In this problem, l is length and w is width.

P = 66                               The perimeter is equal to 66

l = 3 + w                           The length of one side is 3 more than the width

2l + 2w = 66                      A rectangle's perimeter is calculated by adding the lengths and widths

2(3 + w) + 2w = 66           Use what you know about length from step 2 to replace the variable in step 3

6 + 2w + 2w = 66              Multiply

6 + 4w = 66                       Add like terms

4w = 60                            Subtract

w = 15                             Divide

l = 3 + w                         Remember step 2?

l = 3 + 15                       Replace the variable using your value for w

l = 18                             Add

And you're done! Always check your work. It helps to create a picture of a rectangle while you're doing these problems as well. As you get used to these problems more and more, you can show more or less work than I've shown, but try to stay true to what the teacher asks of you. Good luck!
