The answer is C. What Elena did is an example of chunking.

EXPLANATION

Chunking means that an individual will put the information in groups so it will be easier to memorize. When an individual is supposed to memorize a lot of information, the individual should divide the information into groups. If the information is put into groups, the brain has an easier time to memorize it.

The easiest example of chunking is to remember the phone number sequence. The phone number consisted of a long number, like 087654387652. If we use chunking as a method, we can remember the numbers easier by putting the numbers into groups. 087654387652 will be 0876-5438-7652. By putting it in groups, an individual will be easier to recall and retain it.

The information will become easier to memorize if the information is in the form of groups. This is possible because the brain has limited short-term memory. The brain can only remember 4 chunks of information at a time in short-term memory.

People can take smaller bits of information and turns it into groups so they will have an easier time memorizing it. The person can make the information more meaningful by making a connection between the information in the chunk. People can also make a connection between the chunks so that they will have a harder time forgetting it because it is memorable. Chunking will enhance people’s ability in memorizing information. People’s ability to chunking will improve over time.

Elena is using a memory device called chunking.  Chunking is when you take a group of information and place it into something that is memorable or meaningful.  This makes the information easier to remember.  By making patterns, you are better able to remember more and more information.

Professor Kramer has decided to measure how happy his students are with his teaching this semester. He is teaching two classes t
hoa [83]

Answer:

3. This will lead to a biased sample because the type of students who take Psychology and Law may be different from the type of students who take Introduction to Neuroscience

Explanation:

Professor Kramer wants to measure the level of happiness of his students, and he wants to do so for both his classes. However, he will biased the survey simply because he is considering surveying only the students from one of his classes, who may be very different from the students from the other class.

If Professor Kramer wants to make a unbiased survey, he should either find a way to also apply the survey to the students from the other class, or change the goal of the research to measuring the happiness level of the Psychology and Law class students only.
