Answer:

Hubble Space Telescope:

2.orbits around Earth

3.gets information about stars after they are born

5.receives light before it enters Earth’s atmosphere

ALMA Radio Telescope:

1.installed on land.

6.receives light after it passes through Earth’s atmosphere

4.gets information about stars before they are born

Explanation:

Hubble space telescope is a space telescope which is placed above Earth's atmosphere. It orbits around Earth and collects data i.e. receives light from the sky before it passes through the atmosphere. Placing it above atmosphere decreases the attenuation of signal.

The ALMA (Atacama Large Millimeter/Submillimeter Array) is an interferometer of 66 radio telescopes installed in the Atacama Desert (Chile). Since, these are installed on land, these telescopes receive light after passing through Earth's atmosphere. The data from these array of telescopes might provide information on birth of star during the early Stelliferous era.

Hublle Space Telescope
- Orbits around  Earth.
- Receive light before it enters Earth's Atmosphere.
- Get information about stars before they are born.

Alma Radio Telescope
- Installed on land.
- Receive light after it passes through Earth's Atmosphere.
- Get information about stars after they are born.

A plane wall with constant properties is initially at a uniform temperature To. Suddenly, the surface at x = L is exposed to a c
Rzqust [24]

Answer:

The distribution is as depicted in the attached figure.

Explanation:

From the given data

  • The plane wall is initially with constant properties is initially at a uniform temperature, To.
  • Suddenly the surface x=L is exposed to convection process such that T∞>To.
  • The other surface x=0 is maintained at To
  • Uniform volumetric heating q' such that the steady state temperature exceeds T∞.

Assumptions which are valid are

  1. There is only conduction in 1-D.
  2. The system bears constant properties.
  3. The volumetric heat generation is uniform

From the given data, the condition are as follows

Initial Condition

At t≤0

T(x,0)=T_o

This indicates that initially the temperature distribution was independent of x and is indicated as a straight line.

Boundary Conditions

At x=0

T(0,t)=T_o

This indicates that the temperature on the x=0 plane will be equal to To which will rise further due to the volumetric heat generation.

At x=L

-k\frac{\partial T}{\partial x}]_{x=L}=h[T(L,t)-T_{\infty}]

This indicates that at the time t, the rate of conduction and the rate of convection will be equal at x=L.

The temperature distribution along with the schematics are given in the attached figure.

Further the heat flux is inferred from the temperature distribution using the Fourier law and is also as in the attached figure.

It is important to note that as T(x,∞)>T∞ and T∞>To thus the heat on both the boundaries will flow away from the wall.

Mickey, a daredevil mouse of mass m , m, is attempting to become the world's first "mouse cannonball." He is loaded into a sprin
Sati [7]

Answer:

  h = v₀² / 2g ,      h = k/4g     x²

Explanation:

In this exercise we can use the law of conservation of energy at two points, the lowest, before the shot and the highest point that the mouse reaches

Starting point. Lower compressed spring

              Em₀ = K = ½ m v²

Final point. Highest on the path

             Em_{f} = U = mg h

As or no friction the energy is conserved

              Em₀ =  Em_{f}

              ½ m v₀²² = m g h

             h = v₀² / 2g

We can also use as initial energy the energy stored in the spring that will later be transferred to the mouse

                  ½ k x² = 2 g h

                  h = k/4g     x²

one horsepower is a unit of power equal to 746w. how much energy can a 150-horsepower engine transform in 10.0s?
Dafna1 [17]

1 watt = 1 joule/second

1 horsepower = 746 watts = 746 joule/second

   (150 horsepower) x (746 watt/HP) x (1 joule/sec  /  watt) x (10 sec)

=  (150 x 746 x 1 x 10)  joule  =  1,119,000 joules .
