Blanche bought a 5-year cd for $7100 with an apr of 2.8%, compounded quarterly, but she wants to take all her money out 9 months

early. the early redemption fee for the cd is 3 months' interest on the original principal. help blanche determine how much money she will end up earning in interest on the cd. (5 points: part i – 1 point; part ii – 1 point; part iii – 1 point; part iv – 1 point; part v – 1 point)

The formula for getting the accumulated amount(compounded) is;
A =P(1+r%)∧n
Where A = Acumulated amount
            P = principle (deposit)
            r = interest rate and
            n = period
Since the interst is compounded quartly,
period = (5×4)-3 = 17

A = 7100(1+2.8/100)∧17
   = 7100×1.028∧17
   = 11,353.80

The money she will end up earning in interest on the cd = $11,353.80

Tom sells baseball cards at 10 for 35 cents. Is that better deal than 12 for 40 cents? Prove your thinking
Aleks [24]

Answer:

12 for 40 cents is a better deal.

Step-by-step explanation: 35divided by 10 is 3.5 and 12 divided by 40 is 3.333... therefore for just one card it is cheaper but you are getting more cards anyways.

Ann [662]

Answer:

(1) The degrees of freedom for unequal variance test is (14, 11).

(2) The decision rule for the 0.01 significance level is;

  • If the value of our test statistics is less than the critical values of F at 0.01 level of significance, then we have insufficient evidence to reject our null hypothesis.
  • If the value of our test statistics is more than the critical values of F at 0.01 level of significance, then we have sufficient evidence to reject our null hypothesis.

(3) The value of the test statistic is 0.3796.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that you are an expert on the fashion industry and wish to gather information to compare the amount earned per month by models featuring Liz Claiborne's attire with those of Calvin Klein.

The following is the amount ($000) earned per month by a sample of 15 Claiborne models;

$3.5, $5.1, $5.2, $3.6, $5.0, $3.4, $5.3, $6.5, $4.8, $6.3, $5.8, $4.5, $6.3, $4.9, $4.2 .

The following is the amount ($000) earned by a sample of 12 Klein models;

$4.1, $2.5, $1.2, $3.5, $5.1, $2.3, $6.1, $1.2, $1.5, $1.3, $1.8, $2.1.

(1) As we know that for the unequal variance test, we use F-test. The degrees of freedom for the F-test is given by;

\text{F}_(_n__1-1, n_2-1_)

Here, n_1 = sample of 15 Claiborne models

         n_2 = sample of 12 Klein models

So, the degrees of freedom = (n_1-1, n_2-1) = (15 - 1, 12 - 1) = (14, 11)

(2) The decision rule for 0.01 significance level is given by;

(3) The test statistics that will be used here is F-test which is given by;

                          T.S. = \frac{s_1^{2} }{s_2^{2} } \times \frac{\sigma_2^{2} }{\sigma_1^{2} }  ~ \text{F}_(_n__1-1, n_2-1_)

where, s_1^{2} = sample variance of the Claiborne models data = \frac{\sum (X_i-\bar X)^{2} }{n_1-1} = 1.007

s_2^{2} = sample variance of the Klein models data = \frac{\sum (X_i-\bar X)^{2} }{n_2-1} = 2.653

So, the test statistics =  \frac{1.007}{2.653 } \times 1  ~ \text{F}_(_1_4,_1_1_)

                                   = 0.3796

Hence, the value of the test statistic is 0.3796.

You plan to work for 40 years and then retire using a 25-year annuity. You want to arrange a retirement income of $4000 per mont
Molodets [167]

Answer:

  $311.74

Step-by-step explanation:

A financial calculator computes the payment amount to be $311.74.

___

Your graphing calculator may have the capability to do this. Certainly, such calculators are available in spreadsheet programs and on the web.

___

The appropriate formula is the one for the sum of terms of a geometric series.

  Sn = a1·((1+r)^n -1)/(r) . . . . . where r is the monthly interest rate (0.005) and n is the number of payments (480). Filling in the given numbers, you have ...

  $620827.46 = a1·(1.005^480 -1)/.005 = 1991.4907·a1

Then ...

  $620827.46/1991.4907 = a1 ≈ $311.74

Let the random variable x have a discrete uniform distribution on the integers 8 ≤ x ≤ 10. determine the mean, μ, and variance,
arsen [322]
The discrete uniform distribution is on the interval 8 ≤ x ≤ 10.
Therefore the probability density function (shown in the figure) is
P(x) = 1/3 = 1/3 for x = 8, 9, 10
       = 0 otherwse

The mean is μ = 1/3.

The variance is
σ² = Σp(x) (x- μ)²

Because x - μ = 0 for x = 8,9,10, therefore
σ² = 0

Answer:
μ = 1/3
σ² = 0

Which statements are true about the graph of y s 3x + 1 and y 2 -x + 2? Check all that apply.
Varvara68 [4.7K]

Let's go through all the options one at a time and look for the correct ones

<u>Option 1: The slope of one boundary line is 2</u>

We have 2 equations of lines, where the coefficients of are 3 and -1 respectively

because the coefficient of x denotes the slope of a line, we know that the lines have the slope 3 and -1, not 2

Hence, this option is Incorrect

<u>Option 2: Both boundary lines are solid</u>

In order for the boundary lines to be solid, the inequality must have an 'equal to', like ≤ (less than or equal to) or ≥ (greater than or equal to)

we can see that that's the case in our case and hence, this option is Correct

<u>Option 3: A solution to the system is (1, 3)</u>

To confirm this, we'll plug these coordinates into the given inequalities and see if it stands correct

y ≤ 3x + 1

3 ≤ 3(1) + 1

3 ≤ 4 which is correct because 3 is less than 4

Second equation:

y ≥ 2 - x

3 ≥ 2 - 1

3 ≥ 1

Which is also true because 3 is greater than 1

Now, we can say that (1 , 3) is a solution to the system because it satisfies both the equations and is Correct

<u>Option 4: Both inequalities are shaded below the boundary lines</u>

For an inequality to be shaded below the boundary line, it must have the ≤ inequality (in case of solid line) and < inequality (in case of dotted line)

because the second inequality listed includes the ≥ inequality, which was not mentioned above, it won't be shaded below

another way to think about it is that any 'greater than' inequality will shade everything above the line and the 'lesser than' inequality will shade below the line

which means that this option is Incorrect

<u>Option 5: The boundary lines intersect</u>

In order for the boundary lines to intersect, they must have have different slopes.

as we mentioned in the explanation of the first option, that the slopes of the lines is 3 and -1, which are different slopes

Therefore, this option is Correct
