The %  composition of Ca  in  the compound  is   calculated as  below

%  composition of Ca =mass of Ca/mass  of CaS x100
mass of Ca=20 grams

calculate the mass of CaS  by

 first  write the reacting equation

Ca+ S = CaS

then find the moles of  each  element
moles=mass/molar mass

moles for Ca=  20g/ 40 g/mol = 0.5 moles
moles for S= 16g/32g/mol = 0.5 moles

since Ca and S has the  same moles  and the reacting ratio between          Ca :CaS  the  moles of CaS is also = 0.5 moles

mass of CaS= moles  of CaS x molar mass CaS
 =0.5 x72= 36 grams  of Cas

the %  composition is therefore = 20g/36g x100 = 55.6%

What is the name of the functional group that is attached to this hydrocarbon? The first and last of a chain of three carbons ar
disa [49]

Answer:

Ketone

Explanation:

As you are stating here, we have a carbonated chain of three carbons, and the first and last has 3 Hydrogens, then this means that we have CH₃ . The center carbon is a carbon double bonded to oxygen.

In general terms this belongs to the carbonyl group. However, this alone does not represent a functional group, but when it's in a chain with other radycals or chains, it becomes a functional group.

In this case, the molecule you are talking here is the following:

CH₃ - CO - CH₃

This molecule is known as the Acetone, and has the general form of:

R - CO - R'

Which belongs to a ketone as a functional group.

Which compound has the lowest vapor pressure at 50°C?
Mnenie [13.5K]

Answer : Option A) Ethanoic Acid

Explanation : Ethanoic acid has the lowest vapor pressure i.e 0.08 atm at the temperature of 50°C compared to the other given options.

The vapour pressure of propanone at 50°C is 0.84 atm

Ethanol has vapour pressure as 0.30 atm at 50°C

water has vapour pressure of 0.12 atm at 50°C.
