10 g of glue with 13 g of water ,

Mass ratio of the material can be calculated as:

\frac{Mass of glue}{Mass of glue + Mass of water}

\frac{10 g}{10 g + 13 g }

\frac{10 g}{23 g }

8 g of sodium borate suspended in 11 g of water, mass ratio can be calculated as:

\frac{Mass of sodium borate}{Mass of sodium borate + Mass of water}

\frac{ 8 g}{ 8 g + 11 g }

\frac{8 g}{19 g }

Convert 1.72 moles of magnesium carbonate to formula units
snow_tiger [21]
One mole any substance contains 6.022 ₓ 10²³ particles called Avogadro's Number.

The relation between moles and number of particles is given as,

                        # of particles  =  moles ₓ Avogadro's number

In our case the particles are formula units of MgCO₃. So, 1 mole of MgCO₃ contain 6.022 ₓ 10²³ formula units, then the number of formula units in 1.72 moles are calculated as,

              # of formula units  =  1.72 mol ₓ 6.022 ₓ 10²³ formula units / mol

             # of formula units   =  1.035 ₓ 10²⁴ Formula Units

A solution of cough syrup contains 5.00% active ingredient by volume. If the total volume of the bottle is 11.0 mL , how many mi
Marta_Voda [28]
All you need to do is change 5% into a decimal which would be 5/100 = .05
then multiply the decimal by the total volume to get the amount of active ingredients in ml
.05 * 56ml = 2.8 ml of active ingredient.

Hope that helps!

Which is stronger - the attractive forces between water molecules and chromium and chloride ions, or the combined ionic bond str
Allisa [31]
Out of the two, the forces between water molecules and chromium and chloride ions is greater. This is proven by the fact that chromium chloride is slightly soluble in water, about 565 grams per liter.
In order for a substance to be soluble, the attraction of the ions to the water molecules must exceed the attraction between its own molecules and the water molecules.

A chemist wants to extract copper metal from copper chloride solution. The chemist places 1.50 grams of aluminum foil in a solut
Lisa [10]

Answer: d. More than 6.5 grams of copper (II) is formed, and some copper chloride is left in the reaction mixture.

Explanation: 2Al+3CuCl_2\rightarrow 2AlCl_3+3Cu

As can be seen from the chemical equation, 2 moles of aluminium react with 3 moles of copper chloride.

According to mole concept, 1 mole of every substance weighs equal to its molar mass.

Aluminium is the limiting reagent as it limits the formation of product and copper chloride is the excess reagent as (14-7.5)=6.5 g is left as such.

Thus 54 g of of aluminium react with 270 g of copper chloride.

1.50 g of aluminium react with=\frac{270}{54}\times 1.50=7.5 gof copper chloride.

3 moles of copper chloride gives 3 moles of copper.

7.5 g of copper chloride gives 7.5 g of copper.
