The mixture contains 62 % one isomer and 38 % the enantiomer.

Let’s say that the mixture contains 62 % of the (<em>R</em>)-isomer.

Then % (<em>S</em>) = 100 % -62 % = 38 %

ee = %  (<em>R</em>) - % (<em>S</em>) = 62 % -38 % = 24 %

<u>Answer:</u> The percentage of R-enantiomer is 62 %, the percentage of S-enantiomer is 38 % and the percent enantiomer excess is 24 %

<u>Explanation:</u>

We are given:

A chiral molecule limonene which is 62 % enantiopure.

This molecule has two enantiomers, which are R-limonene and S-limonene.

Let us consider that 62% of the given molecule is R-limonene.

So, the remaining S-limonene will be = (100 - 62) = 38 %

Percent enantiomeric excess is defined as the difference between the percentage major enantiomer and the percentage minor enantiomer.

Mathematically,

\%\text{ Enantiomer excess}=\%\text{ Major enantiomer}-\%\text{ Minor enantiomer}

% major enantiomer = 62 %

% minor enantiomer = 38 %

Putting values in above equation, we get:

\%\text{ Enantiomer excess}=62\%-38\%=24\%

Hence, the percentage of R-enantiomer is 62 %, the percentage of S-enantiomer is 38 % and the percent enantiomer excess is 24 %

salantis [7]

Answer:

See explaination for details and diagram

Explanation:

We can say that Chemical reaction is a process in which one or more substances, the reactants, are converted to one or more different substances, the products. Substances are either chemical elements or compounds.

A chemical reaction rearranges the constituent atoms of the reactants to create different substances as products.

See attachment for the buffer of the chemical reaction.

An air sample consists of oxygen and nitrogen gas as major components. It also contains carbon dioxide and traces of some rare g
jekas [21]

Explanation:

A mixture is defined as the substance that contains two or more different number of substances that are physically mixed together.

For example, a mixture of air which contains oxygen, nitrogen and other gases.

A mixture in which solute particles are unevenly distributed into the solvent then it is known as a heterogeneous mixture.

For example, sand in water is a heterogeneous mixture.

A homogeneous mixture is defined as the mixture in which solute particles are evenly distributed in a solvent.

A homogeneous mixture is a clear solution.

For example, salt dissolved in water is a homogeneous mixture.

A solution is defined as the substance in which two or more substances are mixed together.

A compound is defined as the substance that contains two or more different elements that chemically combined together in a fixed ratio by mass.

A element is defined as the substance that contains only one type of atoms.

For example, a piece of sodium element will contain only atoms of sodium.

Whereas a pure substance is defined as the substance which contains only one type of molecule or one type of atom.

For example, O_{2}, N_{2} etc are pure substances.

Thus, we can conclude that the terms which could be used to describe the given sample of air is as follows.

  • pure chemical substance.
  • heterogenous mixture.
  • mixture.

A toy car is placed at 0 on a number line. It moves 9 cm to the left, then 4 cm to the right, and then 6 cm to the left. What is
snow_lady [41]

Answer:

19

Explanation:

The total distance traveled by the toy cay would be 19 cm.

The total distance traveled should not be mistaken for total displacement. While displacement measures the distance and direction from the starting position of the toy car relative to its final position, the total distance traveled is calculated by adding all the movements of the toy car together. Hence;

Total distance traveled = 9 + 4 + 6 = 19 cm

How many moles of sodium bicarbonate is needed to neutralize 0.8 ml of sulphuric acid?
svet-max [94.6K]

Answer:

n NaHCO3 = 9.6 E-3 mol

Explanation:

balanced reaction:

  • 2 NaHCO3(s) + H2SO4(ac) ↔ Na2SO4(ac) + 2 CO2(g) + 2 H2O(l)
  • assuming a concentration of H2SO4 6M....normally worked in the lab

⇒ n H2SO4 = 8 E-4 L * 6 mol/L = 4.8 E-3 mol H2SO4

according to balanced reaction, we have that for every mol of H2SO4 there are two mol of NaHCO3 ( sodium bicarbonate)

⇒ mol NaHCO3 = 4.8 E-3 mol H2SO4 * ( 2 mol NaHCO3 / mol H2SO4 )

⇒ ,mol NaHCO3 = 9.6 E-3 mol

So 9.6 E-3 mol NaHCO3,  are the minimun moles necessary to neutralize the acid.
