Answer:

number of nickle coins = 20

number of dime coins = 11

number of quarter coins = 17

Step-by-step explanation:

Worth of coins in one dollar : 1 quarter = 25% , 1 dime = 10%, 1 nickle = 5%

Now, let number of nickle coins be x and number of quarter coins be y

Number of dimes = 55% less than number of nickle

⇒ Number of dimes = 0.55·x

Now, according to question, Total number of coins in the jar = 48

⇒ x + 0.55·x + y = 48

⇒ 1.55·x + y = 48.........(1)

Total value of coins in the jar = 5.40

⇒ 0.05·x + 0.01 × 0.55·x + 0.25·y = 5.40

⇒ 0.0555·x + 0.25·y = 5.40

⇒ 5.55·x + 25·y = 540..........(2)

On solving (1) and (2), We get

x = 19.88 ≈ 20

y = 17.19 ≈ 17

Hence, number of nickle coins = 20

number of dime coins = 11

number of quarter coins = 17

Which function has the domain x&gt;or= -11
iogann1982 [59]
I'm assuming this is multiple choice and you forgot to post the answers. I'll take a guess and say it probably looks something like this:
y = \sqrt{x + 11}
Because you can't take the square root of a negative number without getting an imaginary result, resulting in the function having a closed domain limit.

Mademuasel [1]
Let X is the random number Erik thinks of, and Y is the random number Nita thinks of.
Both X and Y are in the range from 0 to 20.
<span>X<=20
Y<=20
If the difference between their two numbers is less than 10, then Erik wins.
The difference between the two numbers can be written X-Y, or Y-X depending on which number (X or Y) is greater. But we do not know that. In order not to get negative value, we calculate absolute value of X-Y,  written |X-Y| which will give positive value whether X is greater than Y or not.
If |X-Y|<10 Erik wins.

The heights of students in a class are normally distributed with mean 55 inches and standard deviation 5 inches. Use the Empiric
maks197457 [2]

Answer:  c)[50,60]

Step-by-step explanation:

The Empirical rule says that , About 68% of the population lies with the one standard deviation from the mean (For normally distribution).

We are given that , The heights of students in a class are normally distributed with mean 55 inches and standard deviation 5 inches.

Then by Empirical rule, about 68% of the heights of students lies between one standard deviation from mean.

i.e. about 68% of the heights of students lies between \text{Mean}\pm\text{Standard deviation}

i.e. about 68% of the heights of students lies between 55\pm5

Here, 55\pm5=(55-5, 55+5)=(50,60)

i.e.  The required interval that contains the middle 68% of the heights. = [50,60]

Hence, the correct answer is c) (50,60)
