A city bus travels 6 blocks east and 8 blocks north. Each block is 100 m long. If the bus travels this distance in 15 minutes, w

hat is the average speed of the bus (m/s)?

Answer:

The average speed of the bus, v = 1.55 m/s

Explanation:

Given that,

Number of blocks traveled by bus towards east = 6

Number of blocks traveled by bus towards north = 8

Length of each block = 100 m

Distance traveled by bus towards east 6 x 100 = 600 m

Distance traveled by bus towards north 8 x 100 = 800 m

The total distance traveled, d = 600 + 800 = 1400

Time taken by the bus to travel is, t = 15 minutes

The velocity is given by the formula

                                  v = d/t  m

Substituting the values in the above equation

                                   v = 1400 m /(15 x 60) s

                                      = 1.55 m/s

Hence, the average speed of the bus, v = 1.55 m/s

If 1.00 mol of argon is placed in a 0.500-L container at 28.0 ∘C , what is the difference between the ideal pressure (as predict
Rudik [331]

Answer:

1.98 atm

Explanation:

Given that:

Temperature = 28.0 °C

The conversion of T( °C) to T(K) is shown below:

T(K) = T( °C) + 273.15

So,

T₁ = (28 + 273.15) K = 301.15 K

n = 1

V = 0.500 L

Using ideal gas equation as:

PV=nRT

where,

P is the pressure

V is the volume

n is the number of moles

T is the temperature

R is Gas constant having value = 0.0821 L atm/ K mol

Applying the equation as:

P × 0.500 L = 1 ×0.0821 L atm/ K mol  × 301.15 K

⇒P (ideal) = 49.45 atm

Using Van der Waal's equation

\left(P+\frac{an^2}{V^2}\right)\left(V-nb\right)=nRT

R = 0.0821 L atm/ K mol

Where, a and b are constants.

For Ar, given that:

So, a = 1.345 atm L² / mol²

b =  0.03219 L / mol

So,

\left(P+\frac{1.345\times \:1^2}{0.500^2}\right)\left(0.500-1\times 0.03219\right)=1\times 0.0821\times 301.15

P+\frac{1.345}{0.25}=\frac{24.724415}{0.46781}

P=\frac{24.724415}{0.46781}-\frac{1.345}{0.25}

⇒P  (real) = 47.47 atm

Difference in pressure = 49.45 atm - 47.47 atm = 1.98 atm

A small particle with positive charge q = +4.25 x 10^-4C and mass m = 5.00 x 10^-5 kg is moving in a region of uniform electric
Tcecarenko [31]

Answer:

a)   r = (0.6 i- 2039 j ^ + 0.102 k⁾ m  and b) vₓ = 30.0 m / s , v_{y} = 2.04 10⁵ m / s   c) v_{z}  = 1.02 10⁻¹m / s

Explanation:

a) To find the position of the particle at a given moment we must know the approximation of the body, use Newton's second law to find the acceleration

         Fe + Fm = m a

         a = (Fe + Fm) / m

the electric force is

         Fe = q E   k ^

         Fe = 4.25 10-4 60 k ^

         Fe = 2.55 10-2 k ^

the magnetic force is

         Fm = q v x B

         Fm = 4.25 10⁻⁴  \left[\begin{array}{ccc}i&j&k\\30&0&0\\0&0&49\end{array}\right]

         fm = 4.25 10⁻⁴ (-j ^ 30 4)

         fm 0 = ^ -5,10 10⁻² j

We look for every component of acceleration

X axis

      aₓ = 0

there is no force

Axis y

      ay = -5.10 10²/5 10⁻⁵ j ^

      ay = -1.02 107 j ^ / s2

z axis

      az = 2.55 10⁻² / 5 10⁻⁵ k ^

      az = 5.1 10² k ^ m / s²

Having the acceleration in each axis we can encocoar the position using kinematics

X axis

the initial velocity is vo = 30 m / s and an initial position xo = 0

           x = vo t + ½ aₓ t₂2

           x = 30 0.02 + 0

           x = 0.6m

Axis y

acceleration is ay = -1.02 10⁷ m / s², a starting position of i = 1m

           y = I + go t + ½ ay t²

           y = 1 + 0 + ½ (-1.02 10⁷) 0.02²

           y = 1 - 2.04 10³

           y = -2039 m j ^

z axis

acceleration is aza = 5.1 10² m / s², the position and initial speed are zero

          z = zo + v₀ t + ½ az t²

          z = 0 + 0 + ½ 5.1 10² 0.02²

          z = 1.02 10⁻¹ m k ^

therefore the position of the bodies is

   r = (0.6 i- 2039 j ^ + 0.102 k⁾ m

b) x axis

 since there is no acceleration the speed remains constant

          vₓ = 30.0 m / s

Axis y

  let's use the equation v = v₀ + a_{y} t

         v_{y} = 0 + -1.02 10⁷ 0.02

          v_{y} = 2.04 10⁵ m / s

z axis

          v_{z} = vo + az t

          v_{z} = 0 + 5.1 10² 0.02

          v_{z}  = 1.02 10⁻¹m / s

Which is NOT a "commonsense" psychological myth?
disa [49]

Answer:A. infants who listen to Mozart are smarter than those that don't.

Explanation: Common Sense is a sound practical judgement of the scheme of things, it can be easily understood as one thinks about life situation.

All other options such as MOST OLDER PEOPLE LIVE SAD AND SOLITARY LIVES ARE CORRECT AS THEY ARE KNOWN TO BE MORE LIKELY TO FALL SICK EASILY.

EATING "COMFORT FOOD" MAKES YOU FEEL HAPPIER IS KNOWN TO BE TRUE AND "COMMONSENSE"

UNLEASHING ANGER CAN MAKE YOU MORE AGGRESSIVE IS A "COMMONSENSE".

only the first option which says infants who listen to Mozart are smarter than those that don't listen to Mozart is not a "commonsense" psychological myth.

A tuning fork produces a sound with a frequency of 256 hz and a wavelength in air of 1.33 m. find the speed of sound in the vici
aalyn [17]
<span>We can think this through intuitively. A frequency of 256 Hz means that the wave has 256 cycles each second. If the wavelength is 1.33 meters, then there are 256 of them each second. Therefore, we just need to multiply the wavelength by the frequency to find the speed of sound. (Note that the units Hz = 1 / s) v = (frequency) x (wavelength) v = (256 Hz) x (1.33 m) v = 340.5 m/s The speed of sound in the vicinity of the fork is 340.5 m/s</span>

1) A capacitor consists of two metal surfaces separated by an electrical insulator with no electrically conductive path through
ki77a [65]

Answer:

Current flows in a resistor-capacitor circuit because of the varying electric field across the plates of a capacitor induced by an AC voltage source <em>(displacement current)</em>

Explanation:

In a capacitor, current does not flow the same way it does in a circuit, that is through conduction. This is because there is a highly resistive material in between the plates of the capacitor. Rather current flows through a phenomenon called displacement current.

Because of change in charge accumulation with time above the plates, the electric field changes causing the displacement current.

Displacement current arises due to the flow of electrons as a result of the varying magnetic fields set up on the plates of the capacitor when supplied with an AC voltage. It is important to note that a DC voltage does not induce any displacement current.

<em>Through this, phenomenon discovered by Maxwell,  current is able to flow in a resistor-capacitor circuit despite the absence of an electrically conductive path through the plates.</em>
