A speaker fixed to a moving platform moves toward a wall, emitting a steady sound with a frequency of 245 Hz. A person on the pl

atform right next to the speaker detects the sound waves reflected off the wall and those emitted by the speaker.

Answer:

Explanation:

by Doppler effect

F apparent = F real x (Vair +- Vobserver) / (Vair +- Vsource)

case1 :if observer is approaching a source then put a + in numerator and - in denominator

case 2 : if observer is going away from source then do opposite.

it is case1 cos observer is moving toward wall . actually wall is acting as a source for observer

so

F apparent = 240 x (344 + vp ) / (344 - vp )

now F apparent - Freal = beat frequency of 6.00 Hz

so {240 x (344 + vp ) / (344 - vp )} - 230 = 6

240 x (344 + vp -344 + vp) / (344 - vp ) = 6

240 x 2 x vp = 6 x (344 - vp )

480 vp = 2064 - 6 x vp

486 x vp = 2064

vp = 4.24 m/s

Workers do 8000 J of work on a 2000-N crate to push it up a ramp. If the ramp is 2 m high, what is the efficiency of the ramp?
IRISSAK [1]

Answer:

50%

Explanation:

Efficiency = work out / work in

e = Fd / W

e = (2000 N) (2 m) / (8000 J)

e = 0.5

This table shows Wayne’s weight on four different planets. Planet Wayne’s weight (pounds) Mars 53 Neptune 159 Venus 128 Jupiter
oee [108]
The correct order is (in decreasing order of gravity strength)
Jupiter - Neptune - Venus - Mars

In fact, Wayne's weight on each planet is given by
W=mg
where m is Wayne's mass, which is a constant value, and g is the gravity strength at the surface of the planet. Therefore, the Wayne's weight W on each planet is directly proportional to the gravity strength of that planet: so the planet with the strongest gravity is the one where Wayne's weight is the greatest (Jupiter, 333 pounds), followed by Neptune (159),  Venus (128) and Mars (53).

A horizontal spring with spring constant 85 n/m extends outward from a wall just above floor level. a 3.5 kg box sliding across
Rina8888 [55]

k = spring constant of the spring = 85 N/m

m = mass of the box sliding towards the spring = 3.5 kg

v = speed of box just before colliding with the spring = ?

x = compression the spring = 6.5 cm = 6.5 cm (1 m /100 cm) = 0.065 m

the kinetic energy of box just before colliding with the spring converts into the spring energy of the spring when it is fully compressed.

Using conservation of energy

Kinetic energy of spring before collision = spring energy of spring after compression

(0.5) m v² = (0.5) k x²

m v² = k x²

inserting the values

(3.5 kg) v² = (85 N/m) (0.065 m)²

v = 0.32 m/s
