Answer:

34.2 g is the mass of carbon dioxide gas one have in the container.

Explanation:

Moles of O_2:-

Mass = 49.8 g

Molar mass of oxygen gas = 32 g/mol

The formula for the calculation of moles is shown below:

moles = \frac{Mass\ taken}{Molar\ mass}

Thus,

Moles= \frac{49.8\ g}{32\ g/mol}

Moles_{O_2}= 1.55625\ mol

Since pressure and volume are constant, we can use the Avogadro's law  as:-

\frac {V_1}{n_1}=\frac {V_2}{n_2}

Given ,

V₂ is twice the volume of V₁

V₂ = 2V₁

n₁ = ?

n₂ = 1.55625 mol

Using above equation as:

\frac {V_1}{n_1}=\frac {V_2}{n_2}

\frac {V_1}{n_1}=\frac {2\times V_1}{1.55625}

n₁ = 0.778125 moles

Moles of carbon dioxide = 0.778125 moles

Molar mass of CO_2 = 44.0 g/mol

Mass of CO_2 = Moles × Molar mass = 0.778125 × 44.0 g = 34.2 g

<u>34.2 g is the mass of carbon dioxide gas one have in the container.</u>

viktelen [127]

Actual question from source:-

A 3.96x10-4 M solution of compound A exhibited an absorbance of 0.624 at 238 nm in a 1.000 cm cuvette.  A blank had an absorbance of 0.029.  The absorbance of an unknown solution of compound A was 0.375.  Find the concentration of A in the unknown.

Answer:

Molar absorptivity of compound A = 1502.53\ {Ms}^{-1}

Explanation:

According to the Lambert's Beer law:-

A=\epsilon l c

Where, A is the absorbance

 l is the path length

\epsilon is the molar absorptivity

c is the concentration.

Given that:-

c = 3.96\times 10^{-4}\ M

Path length = 1.000 cm

Absorbance observed = 0.624

Absorbance blank = 0.029

A = 0.624 - 0.029 = 0.595

So, applying the values in the Lambert Beer's law as shown below:-

0.595=\epsilon\times 1.000\ cm\times 3.96\times 10^{-4}\ M

\epsilon=\frac{0.595}{3.96\times 10^{-4}}\ {Ms}^{-1}=1502.53\ {Ms}^{-1}

<u>Molar absorptivity of compound A = 1502.53\ {Ms}^{-1}</u>

kvv77 [185]

The question is incomplete, the complete question is;

Which of the following is most likely a heavier stable nucleus? (select all that apply) Select all that apply: A nucleus with a neutron:proton ratio of 1.05 A nucleus with a A nucleus with a neutron:proton ratio of 1.49 The nucleus of Sb-123 A nucleus with a mass of 187 and an atomic number of 75

Answer:

A nucleus with a A nucleus with a neutron:proton ratio of 1.49

A nucleus with a mass of 187 and an atomic number of 75

Explanation:

The stability of a nucleus depends on the number of neutrons and protons present in the nucleus. For many low atomic number elements, the number of protons and number of neutrons are equal. This implies that the neutron/proton ratio = 1

Elements with higher atomic number tend to be more stable if they have a slight excess of neutrons as this reduces the repulsion between protons.

Generally, the belt of stability for chemical elements lie between and N/P ratio of 1 to an N/P ratio of 1.5.

Two options selected have an N/P ratio of 1.49 hence they are heavy stable elements.

Determine the normality of the following solutions note the species of interest is H 95 g of PO4 3- in 100mL solution
Aliun [14]

Answer : The normality of the solution is, 30.006 N

Explanation :

Normality : It is defined as the number of gram equivalent of solute present in one liter of the solution.

Mathematical expression of normality is:

\text{Normality}=\frac{\text{Gram equivalent of solute}}{\text{Volume of solution in liter}}

or,

\text{Normality}=\frac{\text{Weight of solute}}{\text{Equivalent weight of solute}\times \text{Volume of solution in liter}}

First we have to calculate the equivalent weight of solute.

Molar mass of solute PO_4^{3-} = 94.97 g/mole

\text{Equivalent weight of solute}=\frac{\text{Molar mass of solute}}{\text{charge of the ion}}=\frac{94.97}{3}=31.66g.eq

Now we have to calculate the normality of solution.

\text{Normality}=\frac{95g}{31.66g.eq\times 0.1L}=30.006eq/L

Therefore, the normality of the solution is, 30.006 N
