A solid copper cube is attached to spring-like device and is able to oscillate horizontally with negligible friction. Each side

of the cube is 1.50 cm long. The cube is initially pulled to a point where it stretches the spring-like device by 2.65 cm where it is held at rest with a horizontal force of 1.50 N. What is the frequency at which it oscillates when it is released? (Assume the density of copper is 8.92 g/cm3.)

Answer:

6.91 Hz

Explanation:

Volume of the cube

= (1.5 x 10⁻² )³m³

= 3.375 x 10⁻⁶ m³

mass of the cube

= 3.375 x 10⁻⁶  x 8920 ( 8.92 g / cm³ = 8920 kg/m³ )

m = 30.105 x 10⁻³ kg

Spring stretches by 2.65 x 10⁻² m due to a force of  1.5 N.

If k be the force constant

k x = F

K x2.65 x 10⁻²  = 1.5

k = .566 x 10² N / m

Now frequency of oscillation for spring - mass system is given by

n = \frac{1}{2\pi} \sqrt{\frac{k}{m} }

=\frac{1}{2\pi} \sqrt{\frac{56.6}{.03} }

n = 6.91 Hz

Imagine that the above hoop is a tire. the coefficient of static friction between rubber and concrete is typically at least 0.9.
Stels [109]
The hoop is attached.

Consider that the friction force is given by:
F = μ·N
   = μ·m·g·cosθ

We also know, considering the forces of the whole system, that:
F = -m·a + m·g·sinθ
and
a = (1/2)·<span>g·sinθ

Therefore:
</span>-(1/2)·m·g·sinθ + m·g·sinθ = <span>μ·m·g·cosθ
</span>(1/2)·m·g·sinθ = <span>μ·m·g·cosθ
</span>μ = (1/2)·m·g·sinθ / <span>m·g·cosθ
   = </span>(1/2)·tanθ

Now, solve for θ:
θ = tan⁻¹(2·μ)
   = tan⁻¹(2·0.9)
   = 61°

Therefore, the maximum angle <span>you could ride down without worrying about skidding is 61°.</span>

The initial velocity of a 4.0-kg box is 11 m/s, due west. After the box slides 4.0 m horizontally, its speed is 1.5 m/s. Determi
ankoles [38]

Answer:

F = - 59.375 N

Explanation:

GIVEN DATA:

Initial velocity = 11 m/s

final velocity = 1.5 m/s

let force be F

work done =  mass* F = 4*F

we know that

Change in kinetic energy = work done

kinetic energy = = \frac{1}{2}*m*(v_{2}^{2}-v_{1}^{2})

kinetic energy = = \frac{1}{2}*4*(1.5^{2}-11^{2}) = -237.5 kg m/s2

-237.5 = 4*F

F = - 59.375 N

A crate slides down a ramp that makes a 20∘ angle with the ground. To keep the crate moving at a steady speed, Paige pushes back
VMariaS [17]

Answer:

Hence, work done= 287.54 J

Explanation:

Given data:

angle of ramp with the ground θ =20°

force applied = 76 N

work done on the crate to slide down 4 m down the ramp

W= F×d cosθ ( only the cos component of the force will slide the crate down)

W= 76×4×cos20= 287.54 J
