The area of the top surface of a washer with an outer radius of 10 mm and a hole with a diameter of 14 mm is 160.29 mm².

<h3>Further Explanation  </h3><h3>Area  </h3>
  • Area is a measure of how much space is occupied by a given shape.
  • Area of a substance is determined by the type of shape in question.

For example;

  • Area of a rectangle is given by; Length multiplied by width
  • Area of a triangle = 1/2 x base x height
  • Area of a circle = πr² where r is the radius of a circle,
  • Area of a square = S², Where s is the side of the square, etc.

In this question, we are given a large washer with an outer radius of 10 mm and inner radius of 7 mm.

Area of annulus region will be given by;

Area = πR²- πr²

          = π(R²-r²)

Where R is the outer radius while r is the inner radius.

Therefore; Taking π = 22/7, R = 10 mm and r = 7 mm

Area = 22/7( 10²-7²)

        = 22/7 (51)

        = 160.29 mm²

Therefore, the area of the top surface of the large washer is 160.29 mm².

<h2>Answer:</h2>

The area of the top surface of the washer is:  160.14 square mm.

<h2>Step-by-step explanation:</h2>

The top of the surface is in the shape of a annulus  with a outer radius of 10 mm and a inner radius of 7 mm ( since the diameter of the hole is: 14 mm and we know that the radius is half of the diameter)

Now, we know that the area of the annulus region is given by:

Area=\pi (R^2-r^2)

where R is the outer radius and r is the inner radius.

Here we have:

R=10\ mm\\\\and\\\\r=7\ mm

Hence, we have:

Area\ of\ top\ surface=\pi (10^2-7^2)\\\\i.e.\\\\Area\ of\ top\ surface=\pi (100-49)\\\\i.e.\\\\Area\ of\ top\ surface=\pi\cdot 51\\\\i.e.\\\\Area\ of\ top\ surface=160.14\ mm^2

Solve the given initial value problem and determine how the interval in which the solution exists depends on the initial value y
zalisa [80]

Answer:

y has a finite solution for any value y_0 ≠ 0.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the differential equation

y' + y³ = 0

We can rewrite this as

dy/dx + y³ = 0

Multiplying through by dx

dy + y³dx = 0

Divide through by y³, we have

dy/y³ + dx = 0

dy/y³ = -dx

Integrating both sides

-1/(2y²) = - x + c

Multiplying through by -1, we have

1/(2y²) = x + C (Where C = -c)

Applying the initial condition y(0) = y_0, put x = 0, and y = y_0

1/(2y_0²) = 0 + C

C = 1/(2y_0²)

So

1/(2y²) = x + 1/(2y_0²)

2y² = 1/[x + 1/(2y_0²)]

y² = 1/[2x + 1/(y_0²)]

y = 1/[2x + 1/(y_0²)]½

This is the required solution to the initial value problem.

The interval of the solution depends on the value of y_0. There are infinitely many solutions for y_0 assumes a real number.

For y_0 = 0, the solution has an expression 1/0, which makes the solution infinite.

With this, y has a finite solution for any value y_0 ≠ 0.

Lisa is 10 centimeters taller than her friend Ian. Ian is 14 centimeters taller than Jim. Every month, their heights increase by
bekas [8.4K]
Let Lisa's height be x, Ian's be y and Jim's be z
x = 10 + y . . . (1)
y = 14 + z . . . (2)
y + 14 + z + 14 = 170 + x + 14
y + z - x = 170 + 14 - 28 = 156 . . . (3)
From (2), z = y - 14 . . . (4)
Putting (1) and (4) into (3) gives,
y + y - 14 - 10 - y = 156
y = 156 + 24 = 180

Therefore, Ian's height is 180 centimeters

the distribution of scores on a recent test closely followed a normal distribution wotb a mean of 22 and a standard deviation of
soldi70 [24.7K]

Answer:

1) 22.66%

2) 20

Step-by-step explanation:

The scores of a test are normally distributed.

Mean of the test scores = u = 22

Standard Deviation = \sigma = 4

Part 1) Proportion of students who scored atleast 25 points

Since, the test scores are normally distributed we can use z scores to find this proportion.

We need to find proportion of students with atleast 25 scores. In other words we can write, we have to find:

P(X ≥ 25)

We can convert this value to z score and use z table to find the required proportion.

The formula to calculate the z score is:

z=\frac{x-u}{\sigma}

Using the values, we get:

z=\frac{25-22}{4}=0.75

So,

P(X ≥ 25) is equivalent to P(z ≥ 0.75)

Using the z table we can find the probability of z score being greater than or equal to 0.75, which comes out to be 0.2266

Since,

P(X ≥ 25) = P(z ≥ 0.75), we can conclude:

The proportion of students with atleast 25 points on the test is 0.2266 or 22.66%

Part 2) 31st percentile of the test scores

31st percentile means 31%(0.31) of the students have scores less than this value.

This question can also be done using z score. We can find the z score representing the 31st percentile for a normal distribution and then convert that z score to equivalent test score.

Using the z table, the z score for 31st percentile comes out to be:

z = -0.496

Now, we have the z scores, we can use this in the formula to calculate the value of x, the equivalent points on the test scores.

Using the values, we get:

-0.496=\frac{x-22}{4}\\\\ x=4(-0.496) + 22\\\\ x=20.02\\\\ x \approx 20

Thus, a test score of 20 represent the 31st percentile of the distribution.
