An electric kitchen range has a total wall area of 1.40 m2 and is insulated with a layer of fiberglass 4.0 cm thick. The inside

surface of the fiberglass has a temperature of 175 ∘C and its outside surface is at 35 ∘C. The fiberglass has a thermal conductivity of 0.040 W/(m⋅K).What is the heat current through the insulation, assuming it may be treated as a flat slab with an area of 1.40 m2?What electric-power input to the heating element is required to maintain this temperature?

Answer: Heat current through the insulator=196W

Electric power= 196W

Explanation: Given: Kglass = 0.040W/m

Temperature of inside glassTi=175°C

Temperature of outside glass To= 35°C

Area=1.4m^2 , L= 4×10^-2

Heat current(H)= K ×A× (Ti - To)/L

Substituting the values into the equation

H = 0.04 × K × 1.4 ×(175-35)/4×10^-2

H= 196W.

The electric power = Heat current =196W

The electric power is the magnitude of heat current

Zepler [3.9K]

Answer:

53

Explanation:

Because there are 1609.34 meters in a mile. 1609.34÷30=53.64 but because you put one at the beginning of the mile it will stay 53 and not round up to 54

Andru [333]

Answer:

James is correct here as the force of hand pushing upwards is always more than the force of hand pushing down

Explanation:

Here we know that one hand is pushing up at some distance midway while other hand is balancing the weight by applying a force downwards

so here we can say

Upwards force = downwards Force + weight of snow

while if we find the other force which is acting downwards

then for that force we can say that net torque must be balanced

so here we have

F_{down} L_1 = W_{snow} L_2

so here we have

F_{down} = \frac{L_2}{L_1} (W_{snow})

so here we can say that upward force by which we push up is always more than the downwards force

Alchen [17]

Answer:

a. 1. she informed the audience when she was concluding

2. She simply outlined the steps tying her conclusion to the topic

3. her conclusion was concise and simple.

b. 13.1 grams

Explanation:

a. signalling the end of a speech prepares the mind of the audience and leaves them satisfied, and Kara correctly signaled the end of her speech when she said "In conclusion".

Also, Kara summarized the ideas in her speech by simply outlining the requirements needed to get a U.S passport.

Her conclusion was concise and simple which is very important especially for lengthy speeches because the audience at this point must be getting tired and distracted.

b. Amount of cholesterol in 100 mL of blood = 248 mg

Total Volume of blood = 5.3 Liters.

the question is asking us to find the total grams of cholesterol in the individual's body, that is the total grams of cholesterol in 5.3 Liters of the individuals blood.

To solve, let us use the following steps:

1. unify the units of measuring volume.

since the first volume is given in Milliliters, I will convert the second volume (5.3 Liters) to milliliters too. To do this, note that:

1 liter = 1000 Milliliter (mL)

∴ 5.3 Liters = 5.3 × 1000 = 5300 Milliliters (mL)

2. Calculate the amount of cholesterol in 5300 mL.

100 mL = 248 mg of cholesterol

∴ 1 mL = \frac{248}{100\\} = 2.48 mg

∴ 5300 mL = 2.48 × 5300 = 13,144 mg of cholesterol.

3. Convert the amount of cholesterol from Milligram to gram

Since the question asked for the gram of cholesterol, not the milligram of cholesterol, converting from milligram to gram, we use the following steps:

1000 mg = 1 g

∴ 1 mg = \frac{1}{1000} g

∴ 13144 mg = 13144 × \frac{1}{1000} = \frac{13144}{1000} = 13.144 ≅ 13.1 g of cholesterol ( 1 decimal place).

I suggest you go and study the conversion relationships between the sub units milli, micro, centi and deci.

The alpha particles leave visible tracks in the cloud chamber because
julia-pushkina [17]

Answer: Ionization

The inner atmosphere of a cloud chamber is composed of an easily ionizable gas, this means that little energy is required to extract an electron from an atom. This gas is maintained in the supercooling state, so that a minimum disturbance is enough to condense it in the same way as the water is frozen.

Then, when a charged particle with enough energy interacts with this gas, it ionizes it.

This is how alpha particles are able to ionize some atoms of the gas contained inside the chamber when they cross the cloud chamber.

These ionized atoms increase the surface tension of the gas around it allowing it to immediately congregate and condense, making it easily distinguishable inside the chamber like a small cloud. In this way, it is perfectly observable the path the individual particles have traveled, simply by observing the cloud traces left in the condensed gas.
