Physics

4 0

Answer:

a) 14.2 atm

b) 4.46 atm

c) 1.06 atm

Explanation:

For an ideal gas,

PV = nRT

P = pressure of the gas

V = volume occupied by the gas

n = number of moles of the gas

R = molar gas constant = 0.08206 L.atm/mol.K

T = temperature of the gas in Kelvin

a) For HF,

P =?, V = 2.5L, n = 1.35 moles, T = 320K

P = 1.35 × 0.08206 × 320/2.5

P = 14.2 atm

b) For NO₂

P =?, V = 4.75L, n = 0.86 moles, T = 300K

P = 0.86 × 0.08206 × 300/4.75

P = 4.46 atm

c) For CO₂

P =?, V = 5.5 × 10⁴ mL = 55L, n = 2.15 moles, T = 57°C = 330K

P = 2.15 × 0.08206 × 330/55

P = 1.06 atm

The drawing shows three identical springs hanging from the ceiling. Nothing is attached to the first spring, whereas a 4.50-N bl
Pavlova-9 [17]

Answer:

a. 30 N / m

b. 9.0 N

Explanation:

Given that

Unstretched length of the spring, L_o = 20.0cm = 0.2m

a) When the mass of 4.5N is hanging from the second spring, then extended length Is

L_1 = 35.0cm =  0.35m

So, the change in spring length when mass hangs is

x =  L_1 - L_o

= (0.35 - 0.20) m

= 0.15m

As spring are identical

Let us assume that the spring constant be "k", so at equilibrium

Restoring Force on spring = Block weightage

kx =  W =  4.50

k= \frac{4.50}{x} = \frac{4.50}{0.15}

= 30 N / m

b)  Now for the third spring, stretched the length of spring is

L_2 = 50cm = 0.5m

So, the change in spring length is

x'= L_2 - L_o

= (0.5-0.20)m

=  0.30m

At equilibrium,

Restoring Force on spring = Block weightage

Now using all mentioned and computed values in above,

W'= kx'

= 30(0.3)

= 9.0 N

A ray of light is incident on a plane surface separating two sheets of glass with refractive indexes 1.70 and 1.58. The angel of
dlinn [17]

Answer:

r = 71.8⁰

Explanation:

given,

refractive index of the glass 1 = 1.70

refractive index of glass 2 = 1.58

angle of incidence = 62°

angle of refraction =?

using Snell's law

\dfrac{sin\ i}{sin\ r} = \dfrac{n_2}{n_1}

\dfrac{sin\ 62^0}{sin\ r} = \dfrac{1.58}{1.70}

1.7 ×sin 62 ^0 = 1.58× sin r

sinr = \dfrac{1.7\times sin 62^0}{1.58}

sin r = 0.95

r = sin⁻¹(0.95)

r = 71.8⁰

angle of refraction =r = 71.8⁰

A cart starts from rest and accelerates at 4.0 m/s2 for 5.0 s, then maintains that velocity for 10 s, and then decelerates at th
zhannawk [14.2K]

Answer:

Final speed of car = 12 m/s

Explanation:

We have equation of motion v = u + at, where v is final velocity, u is initial velocity, a is acceleration and t is time.

a) A cart starts from rest and accelerates at 4.0 m/s² for 5.0 s

        v = ?

        u = 0 m/s

        a = 4.0 m/s²

         t = 5 s

         v = u + at = 0 + 4 x 5 = 20 m/s

b) Then maintains that velocity for 10 s

        v = ?

        u = 20 m/s

        a = 0 m/s²

         t = 10 s

         v = u + at = 20 + 0 x 10 = 20 m/s

c) Then decelerates at the rate of 2.0 m/s² for 4.0 s

        v = ?

        u = 20 m/s

        a = -2.0 m/s²

         t = 4 s

         v = u + at = 20 + -2 x 4 = 12 m/s

Final speed of car = 12 m/s

Andrei [34K]

Answer:

C) rift valley

Explanation:

A rift valley is a lowland region formed by the interaction of Earth's tectonic plates. This small rift valley has a typical formation—long, narrow, and deep. It was formed by the Thingvellir rift, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are tearing, or rifting, apart over a hotspot on the island of Iceland.
