800 ml is the volume in mL of 3.59 g CO2 of gas at 2.09 atm and -14°C.

Explanation:

Data given:

mass of the carbon dioxide gas = 3.59

pressure of the carbon dioxide gas =  2.09 atm

temperature of the carbon dioxide gas  = -14 degrees OR 273.15 +(-14) = 259.15 K

atomic mass of carbon dioxide =44.01 grams/mole

R = 0.0821 L.atm/mole K

volume occupied by the gas =?

number of moles of CO2 = \frac{mass}{atomic mass of 1 mole}

number of moles = \frac{3.59}{44.01}

number of moles of carbon dioxide gas = 0.081 moles

from ideal gas law

PV = nRT

V = \frac{0.081 X 0.0821 X 259.15}{2.09}

V = 0.80 L is the volume of carbon dioxide gas

volume in ml = 0.8 x 1000

volume in ml= 800 ml

A cylinder contains 4.0 g of nitrogen gas. A piston compresses the gas to half its initial volume. Afterward, by what factor has
notka56 [123]

Answer:

The mass density will be doubled

Explanation:

  • Density is given by dividing the mass of a substance by its volume.
  • An increase in mass causes an increase in density and vice versa, while a  decrease in volume causes an increase in density and volume.
  • Therefore, when the volume is halved, then the density will be doubled if the mass is kept constant.
  • This has no effect on the number of moles as the mass is constant.

How many moles of KCl will be<br> produced from 15.0 g of KClO3?
slega [8]

Answer:

0.12 mol KCl

Explanation:

2 KClO3 (s)   2 KCl (s) + 3 O2 (g)

15 g                x mol

x g KCl = 15 g KClO3 x[ (1 mol KClO3)/ (122.5 g KClO3) ] x [(2 mol KCl)/ (2 mol KClO3)]

x g KCl = 0.12 mol KCl

How many SO32- ions are contained in 99.6 mg of Na2SO3? The molar mass of Na2SO3 is 126.05 g/mol.
DochEvi [55]
99.6 mg= .0996 g
.0996g x (1mol/125.05g) x (1 mol SO3/1 mol Na2SO2) x (6.02 x 10^22/1mol SO3) = 4.79 x 10^19 SO32- ions

An alkene with the molecular formula C8H16 undergoes ozonolysis to yield a mixture of (CH3)2C=O and (CH3)3CCHO. The alkene is:
aalyn [17]

Answer:

2,4,4-trimethyl-2-pentene yields mixture of (CH_{3})_{2}C=O and (CH_{3})_{3}CHO

Explanation:

In ozonolysis (hydrolysis step involve a reducing agent such as Zn, Me_{2}S etc.), a pi bond is broken to form ketone/aldehyde.

Ketone is formed from di-substituted side of double bond and aldehyde is formed from mono-substituted side of double bond.

Ozoznolysis involves two consecutive steps : (1) formation of ozonide, (2) hydrolysis of ozonide.

Hydrolysis can be done with/without using reducing agent. Carboxylic acid/carbon dioxide/ketone is produced when hydrolysis is done without using reducing agent.

Here, 2,4,4-trimethyl-2-pentene yields mixture of (CH_{3})_{2}C=O and (CH_{3})_{3}CHO

Reaction steps are shown below.
