Answer:

H2SO4(aq)

Explanation:

The balanced equation for the reaction is given below:

H2SO4(aq) + Mg(s) —> MgSO4(aq) + H2 (g)

An acid is a substance which dissolves in water to produce hydrogen ion, H+ as the only positive ion.

To know which of the substance is acid, let us dissolve them in water to see which will produce hydrogen ion, H+ as the only positive ion.

This is illustrated below:

H2SO4(aq) —> 2H+(aq) + SO4^2-(aq)

Mg(s) + 2H2O(l) —> Mg(OH)2(aq) + H2(g)

MgSO4(aq) —> Mg^2+(aq) + SO4^2-(aq)

H2 is insoluble in water.

From the above, only H2SO4 produces hydrogen ion H+ on dissolution in water. Therefore, H2SO4 is an acid

Carbon monoxide and molecular oxygen react to form carbon dioxide. A 50.0 L reactor at 25.0 oC is charged with 1.00 bar of CO. T
Umnica [9.8K]

Answer:

CO = zero

CO2 =1 bar

O2 = 2.02 bar

Explanation:

We are given

initial pressure of CO = 1bar

total pressure = 3.52 bar

so initial pressure of O2 = 3.52 - 1 = 2.52 bar

the reaction is

2CO + O2 → 2CO2

using the unitary method

2 moles of CO2 → 1 mole of O2

1 bar of CO → \frac{1}{2} * 1= 0.5 bar (required)

but we have more oxygen present , that means CO is the limiting reagent

 • Final pressure of CO will be zero as it is the limiting reagent so it will be consumed completely
 • 1 bar of CO → \frac{2mol CO2}{2mol CO} * 1= 1 bar of CO2
 • 2.52 bar O2 (initially) - 0.5 bar (reacted) = 2.02bar O2

What is a characteristic of all fuel cells?
CaHeK987 [17]
B. Electrical energy is produced from oxidation reactions.
I don't have an explanation for this though. Do you need one? I can probably look it up.

How many grams of NH3 can be prepared from 85.5 grams of N2 and 17.3 grams of H2 ?
Tcecarenko [31]
N2 + 3H2 ---> 2NH3

mass of N2 = 28g
mass of H2 = 2g
mass of NH3 = 17g

according to the reaction:
28g N2----------------- 3*2g H2
85,5g N2-------------------- x
x = 18,32g H2 >>> so, nitrogen is excess

according to the reaction:
2*3g H2---------------------- 2*17g NH3
17,3g H2 ------------------------- x
x = 98,03g NH3

answer: 98,03g of NH3

Which will not appear in the equilibrium constant expression for the reaction below?
n200080 [17]

Answer:

[C] carbon solid

Explanation:

Pure solids and liquids are never included in the equilibrium constant expression because they do not affect the reactant amount at equilibrium in the reaction, thus since your equation has [C] as solid it will not be part of the equlibrium equation.

in the early studies of chemistry, scientists used properties and changed to help identify compounds. this is still done today.
Kaylis [27]
The salt water is a mixture because the salt and the water can be separated from each other. The dissolution of salt inside water is a physical change. At the same time, the salt water is an electrolyte, because it conducts electricity. The electricity that was pass through the water led to the decomposition of the water; those bubbles that form inside the water represent oxygen gas which is a product of decomposition of water, therefore the electricity that was passed through the salt water has caused chemical change to occur inside the salt water.
