Answer:

(a) The linear depreciation function of the car which gives the worth of the car y after a number of years, t is given as follows;

y = 25,425 - 2,739 × t

(b) The value of the car 7 years from now is $6,252

(c) $2,739 per year

Step-by-step explanation:

The manufacture's suggested retail price (MSRP) for the car = $25,425

The amount the car is expected to be worth in 5 years = $11,730

(a) The linear depreciation is given as follows;

Depreciation \ Per \ Year \ = \dfrac{Cost \ of \, Asset - Salvage \ Value}{Life \ of \, Asset \ in \ use}

Where;

Cost of Asset = $25,425

Salvage Value = $11,730

Life of Asset in use = 5 years

We get;

Depreciation \ Per \ Year \ = \dfrac{\$ 25,425 - \$11,730}{5} = \$2,739/year

Therefore, the linear depreciation function, can be written as follows;

y - 25,425 = -2,739×(t - 0)

y = -2,739·t + 0 + 25,425 = 25,425 -2,739·t

y = 25,425 - 2,739 × t

Where;

y = The expected worth of the car after a given number of years

t = The number of years used for the calculation of the depreciation

(b) The value of the car 7 years from now is given by substitution as follows;

Whet t = 7, we have;

y = 25,425 -2,739·t = y = 25,425 -2,739 × 7 = $6,252

The value of the car 7 years from now = $6,252

(c) Depreciation \ Per \ Year \ = \dfrac{\$ 25,425 - \$11,730}{5} = \$2,739/year

The car is depreciating at a rate of $2,739 per year.

The given equation has been solved in the table. In which step was the subtraction property of equality applied?
atroni [7]

Answer:

Option (D)

Step-by-step explanation:

Subtraction property of equality tells that whatever subtracted from one side of the equation must be subtracted from the other side.

If x + 2 = 2,

By the property of subtraction of equality,

x + 2 - 2 = 2 - 2

x = 0

But in the given question,

\frac{x}{2}-7=-7

\frac{x}{2}-7+7=-7+7

shows the addition property of equality in step (2)

Therefore, subtraction property of equality was not applied.

Option (D) will be the answer.

The first three terms of a geometric sequence are shown below. x+3,-2x2-6x,4x3+12x2,.... What is the eighth term of the sequence
nika2105 [10]
So hmm is a geometric sequence, meaning, the next term is found by multiplying it by "something", namely the "common ratio"

now, if the next term is the product of the common ratio and the previous term, that means, if we divide the previous term by the next term, the quotient will then be the "common ratio", let's do that then

let's divide the 2nd term by the 1st term then

\bf \cfrac{-2x^2-6x}{x+3}\implies \cfrac{-2x\underline{(x+3)}}{\underline{(x+3)}}\implies \boxed{-2x}\impliedby \textit{common ratio}\\\\
-----------------------------\\\\

\bf n^{th}\textit{ term of a geometric sequence}\\\\
a_n=a_1\cdot r^{n-1}\qquad
\begin{cases}
n=n^{th}\ term\\
a_1=\textit{value of first term}\\
r=\textit{common ratio}\\
----------\\
a_1=x+3\\
n=8\\
r=-2x
\end{cases}
\\\\\\
a_8=(x+3)(-2x)^{8-1}\implies a_8=(x+3)(-2x)^7
\\\\\\
a_8=(x+3)(-2^7x^7)\implies a_8=(x+3)(-128x^7)
\\\\\\
a_8=-128x^8-384x^7

Sketch the two quadrilaterals and label them as shown in the figure below.

Let x = length of the 4th side of ABCD.

Because ABCD ~ EFGH, therefore
x/5 = 14/6
