Answer:

Matter : Is any substance that has mass and volume and occupies space .

Matter is divided into three forms ;

  1. Solid
  2. Liquid
  3. Gas

Non- Matter is any substance that doesn't have mass and due to the fact that it doesn't have mass , it doesn't occupy any space but still exist.

Examples are

  1. The light from a torch
  2. The heat from a fire
  3. The sound of a police siren. and so on.

You cannot hold, taste, or smell these things because they are not matter they are forms of energy.

Answer:

Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space.

non-matter has no mass and doesn't fill a volume.

Therefore matter is way different than non-matter.

Which of the following trends is indirectly proportional to effective nuclear charge, Zeff
Julli [10]

Answer : Option C) Atomic Size

Explanation : The atomic radius of the elements is found to be decreasing if we go from left to right in the modern periodic table. Accordingly, Z_{eff} increases as the number of shielding electrons present in the atomic nucleus of the periodic elements which lies in the same row remains constant while the number of protons in each atomic shell increases.

The effective nuclear charge Z_{eff} of an atom is defined as the net positive charge which is felt by the valence electron of the atomic element.

When Z_{eff} is observed to decrease, it is seen that the atomic radius grows in size. So, it explains the inverse relationship between both. This phenomenon occurs, because there is more screening of the electrons from the nucleus taking place, which is observed due to decrease the attraction between the electron and the nucleus.

Q 11.20: What is the product of the reaction between t-BuCl and MeOH? A : t-BuOH B : MeOCl C : t-BuOMe D : (CH3)2CCH2
Sholpan [36]

Answer:

C : t-BuOMe

Explanation:

The tert -butanol is a tertiary alcohol and when chloride ion attacks the carbocation, it forms t-BuCl.

The reaction of tert-butyl chloride or t-BuCl ((CH3)3C−Cl) with methanol and MeOH (CH3−OH) gives the product tert-Butyl methyl ether or t-BuOMe (CH3)3C−OCH3:

                   (CH3)3C−Cl + CH3−OH => (CH3)3C−OCH3 + HCl

Hence, the correct asnwer is C : t-BuOMe
