Modern commercial airliners are largely made of aluminum, a light and strong metal. But the fact that aluminum is cheap enough t
Dafna11 [192]

Answer:

The plane with aluminium can lift more mass of passangers than the plane of steel.

Explanation:

The total mass the airplane canc lift is:

m_{tot}=m_{fuselage}+m_{passangers}

For aluminium:

m_{tot}=m_{fus-Al}+m_{pas-Al}

m_{fus-Al}=\delta _{Al}*V_{fuselage}

and

V_{fuselage}=\frac{\pi *L}{4}*[D^2-(D-e)^2]

where:

  • L is lenght
  • D is diameter
  • e is thickness

m_{tot}=\delta _{Al}*\frac{\pi *L}{4}*[D^2-(D-e)^2]+m_{pas-Al}

For steel (same procedure):

m_{tot}=\delta _{Steel}*\frac{\pi *L}{4}*[D^2-(D-e)^2]+m_{pas-Steel

Knowing that the total mass the airplane can lift is constant and that aluminum has a lower density than the steel, we can afirm that the plane with aluminium can lift more mass of passangers.

Also you can estimate an average weight of passanger to estimate a number of passangers it can lift.

What is the kinetic energy acquired by the electron in hydrogen atom, if it absorbs a light radiation of energy 1.08x101 J. (A)
Delvig [45]

Explanation:

The given data is as follows.

            Energy of radiation absorbed by the electron in hydrogen atom = 1.08 \times 10^{-17} J

As energy is absorbed as a photon. Hence, frequency will be calculated will be as follows.

                                    E = h \nu

               1.08 \times 10^{-17} J = 6.626 \times 10^{-34} Js \times \nu

               \nu = 0.163 \times 10^{17} s^{-1}

or,                \nu = 1.63 \times 10^{16} s^{-1}

It is known that,        \nu = \frac{c}{\lambda}

                1.63 \times 10^{16} s^{-1} = \frac{3 \times 10^{8} m/s}{\lambda}

                   \lambda = 1.84 \times 10^{-8} m

And, according to De-Broglie equation \lambda = \frac{h}{p}

as,        p = m \times \nu

So,          \lambda = \frac{h}{m \times \nu}

            m \times \nu = \frac{6.626 \times 10^{-34} Js}{1.84 \times 10^{-8} m}

                             = 3.6 \times 10^{-26} J/m

Now, on squaring both the sides we get the following.

           (m \times \nu)^{2} = (3.6 \times 10^{-26} J/m)^{2}

                              = 12.96 \times 10^{-52}

               m \times \nu^{2} = \frac{12.96 \times 10^{-52}}{m}

where,   m = mass of electron

So,           m \times \nu^{2} = \frac{12.96 \times 10^{-52}}{m}

                             = \frac{12.96 \times 10^{-52}}{9.1 \times 10^{-31}}

                                   = 1.42 \times 10^{-21} J

Since,  K.E = \frac{1}{2}m \nu^{2}

                 = \frac{1.42 \times 10^{-21} J}{2}

                 = 0.71 \times 10^{-21} J

Thus, we can conclude that kinetic energy acquired by the electron in hydrogen atom is 7.1 \times 10^{-22} J.

How many moles of sodium bicarbonate is needed to neutralize 0.8 ml of sulphuric acid?
svet-max [94.6K]

Answer:

n NaHCO3 = 9.6 E-3 mol

Explanation:

balanced reaction:

  • 2 NaHCO3(s) + H2SO4(ac) ↔ Na2SO4(ac) + 2 CO2(g) + 2 H2O(l)
  • assuming a concentration of H2SO4 6M....normally worked in the lab

⇒ n H2SO4 = 8 E-4 L * 6 mol/L = 4.8 E-3 mol H2SO4

according to balanced reaction, we have that for every mol of H2SO4 there are two mol of NaHCO3 ( sodium bicarbonate)

⇒ mol NaHCO3 = 4.8 E-3 mol H2SO4 * ( 2 mol NaHCO3 / mol H2SO4 )

⇒ ,mol NaHCO3 = 9.6 E-3 mol

So 9.6 E-3 mol NaHCO3,  are the minimun moles necessary to neutralize the acid.

A solution has a hydroxide-ion concentration of 0.0040 M. What is the pOH of the solution? A solution has a pH value of 3.66. Wh
hodyreva [135]

Answer:

1. pOH = 2.4

2. pOH = 10.34

3. pH = 2.14

Explanation:

1. Determination of the pOH.

Concentration of Hydroxide ion, [OH-] = 0.004 M

pOH =?

pOH = - log [OH-]

pOH = - log (0.004)

pOH = 2.4

Therefore, the pOH of the solution is 2.4

2. Determination of the pOH.

pH = 3.66

pOH =?

pH and pOH are related by the following equation:

pH + pOH = 14

With the above formula, we can obtain the pOH of the solution as follow:

pH = 3.66

pOH =?

pH + pOH = 14

3.66 + pOH = 14

Collect like terms

pOH = 14 - 3.66

pOH = 10.34

Therefore, the pOH of the solution is 10.34

3. Determination of the pH.

Molarity of HCl = 0.0072 M

Concentration of Hydrogen ion, [H+] =?

Thus, we can obtain the concentration of Hydrogen ion, [H+] as follow:

HCl(aq) —> H+(aq) + Cl-(aq)

From the balanced equation above,

1 mole of HCl produced 1 mole of H+.

Therefore, 0.0072 M HCl will also produce 0.0072 M H+.

Therefore, the concentration of Hydrogen ion, [H+] in the solution is 0.0072 M.

Finally, we shall determine the pH of the solution as follow:

Concentration of Hydrogen ion, [H+] = 0.0072 M.

pH =?

pH = - log [H+]

pH = - log (0.0072)

pH = 2.14

Therefore, the pH of the solution is 2.14
