Answer:

Difference = 1.83 hours

Explanation:

Let the two trips be A and B respectively.

Given the following data;

Distance A = 2000 miles

Speed A = 400 miles

Distance B = 2000 miles

Speed B = 480 miles per hour

To find the time spent;

a. For trip A.

Time A = distance A/speed A

Time A = 2000/400

Time A = 5 hours

b. For trip B.

Time B = distance B/speed B

Time B = 2000/480

Time B = 4.17 hours

Next, we would find the difference between the two trips.

Difference = Time A - Time B

Difference = 5 - 4.17

Difference = 1.83 hours

Therefore, the return trip was much quicker by 1.83 hours.

An amusement park ride raises people high into the air, suspends them for a moment, and then drops them at a rate of free-fall a
blsea [12.9K]

Answer: apparent weighlessness.

Explanation:

1) Balance of forces on a person falling:

i) To answer this question we will deal with the assumption of non-drag force (abscence of air).

ii) When a person is dropped, and there is not air resistance, the only force acting on the person's body is the Earth's gravitational attraction (downward), which is the responsible for the gravitational acceleration (around 9.8 m/s²).

iii) Under that sceneraio, there is not normal force acting on the person (the normal force is the force that the floor or a chair exerts on a body to balance the gravitational force when the body is on it).

2) This is, the person does not feel a pressure upward, which is he/she does not feel the weight: freefalling is a situation of apparent weigthlessness.

3) True weightlessness is when the object is in a place where there exists not grativational acceleration: for example a point between two planes where the grativational forces are equal in magnitude but opposing in direction and so they cancel each other.

Therefore, you conclude that, assuming no air resistance, a person in this ride experiencing apparent weightlessness.

Assume that segment r exerts a force of magnitude t on segment l. what is the magnitude flr of the force exerted on segment r by
mrs_skeptik [129]
If we are talking on the force being exerted by a segment of a rope of lenght R on the right on a point M which is being also pulled from the Left by a segment of rope R as shown in the figure attached. Then we invoke Newton's Third Law:
"Any force exerted by an object (in this case a segment of the rope) also suffers a equal and opposite force".
If we pick T_R=T whis is the tension exerted by the right segment then the left segment will also exert an equal and opposite force so we have that T_L=-T

Un tubo de acero de 40000 kilómetros forma un anillo que se ajusta bien a la circunferencia de la tierra. Imagine que las person
Darina [25.2K]

Answer:

82.76m

Explanation:

In order to find the distance of the steel ring to the ground, when its temperature has raised by 1°C, you first calculate the radius of the steel tube before its temperature increases.

You use the formula for the circumference of the steel ring:

C=2\pi r    (1)

C: circumference of the ring = 40000 km = 4*10^7m (you assume the circumference is the length of the steel tube)

you solve for r in the equation (1):

r=\frac{C}{2\pi}=\frac{4*10^7m}{2\pi}=6,366,197.724m

Next, you use the following formula to calculate the change in the length of the tube, when its temperature increases by 1°C:

L=Lo[1+\alpha \Delta T]         (2)

L: final length of the tube = ?

Lo: initial length of the tube = 4*10^7m

ΔT = change in the temperature of the steel tube = 1°C

α: thermal coefficient expansion of steel = 13*10^-6 /°C

You replace the values of the parameters in the equation (2):

L=(4*10^7m)(1+(13*10^{-6}/ \°C)(1\°C))=40,000,520m

With the new length of the tube, you can calculate the radius of a ring formed with the tube. You again solve the equation (1) for r:

r'=\frac{C}{2\pi}=\frac{40,000,520m}{2\pi}=6,366,280.484m

Finally, you compare both r and r' radius:

r' - r = 6,366,280.484m - 6,366,197.724m = 82.76m

Hence, the distance to the ring from the ground is 82.76m

A 6.0-ohm resistor that obeys Ohm’s Law is connected to a source of variable potential difference. When the applied voltage is d
leva [86]

Is halved. A 6Ω resistor connected to a voltage source which voltage is decreased from 12V to 6V the current passing through the resistor is halved.

The key to solve this problem is applying Ohm's Law V = R I, clearing I from the equation, we obtain I = V/R. Then, the current is directly proportional to the voltage and inversely proportional to the resistance.

V = 12V and R = 6Ω

I = 12V/6Ω = 2A

V = 6V and R = 6Ω

V = 6V/6Ω = 1A

As we can see the current is halved if the voltage descreased from 12V to 6V
