Answer:

  • P(face card)=3/13
  • P(seven of hearts)=1/52
  • P(no black)=1/2
  • P(king)=1/13
  • P(diamond)=1/4

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that there are a total 52 cards out of which:

There are 12 face cards ( 4 kings,4 queen and 4 jack)

There are 4 pack:

13- spades     13- club     13-heart     13-diamond.

Out of which there are 26 black cards( 13 spade and 13 club)

There are 26 red cards( 13 heart and 13 diamond)

Now , we are asked to find the probability of each of the following,

1)

P(face card)

Since there are total 12 face cards out of 52 playing cards.

Hence,

P(face card)=12/52=3/13

2)

P( seven of hearts)

As there is just 1 seven of heart out pf 52 cards.

Hence,  P(seven of hearts)=1/52

3)

P(no black)

This means we are asked to find the probability of red card.

As there are 26 red card.

Hence P(no black)=26/52=1/2

4)

P(king)

As there are 4 kings out of 52 cards.

Hence, P(king)=4/52=1/13

5)

P(diamond)

As there are total 13 cards of diamond.

Hence,

P(diamond)=13/52=1/4

Mars2501 [29]

Answer:

The hourly charge is $4 per hour for the first 3 hours.

The rate then drops to $2 per hour until the end of the 6th hour.

The hourly rate drops further to $1 per hour between the 6th and 10th  hours.

The maximum price of the bike rental is $30.

Step-by-step explanation:

The slope of the graph corresponds to the hourly rate for the bike rental.

During the first three hours of the bike rental, the price increases by $4 each hour.

Between the 3rd  and 6 th hours, the slope of the graph is 2, which means the hourly rate of the bike rental is $2 per hour.

Between the 6th and 10th hours, the rate is $1 per hour.

After the 10th  hour, the price, P, stops increasing. The maximum price of the bike rental is $30.

For what value of x is the equation 22x + 7 = 215 true?
PIT_PIT [208]

Answer:

x = 9 5/11

Step-by-step explanation:

22x + 7 = 215

22x = 215-7

22x = 208

x = 208/22

x = 9 5/11

At an ocean-side nuclear power plant, seawater is used as part of the cooling system. This raises the temperature of the water t
grandymaker [24]

Answer:

(a1) The probability that temperature increase will be less than 20°C is 0.667.

(a2) The probability that temperature increase will be between 20°C and 22°C is 0.133.

(b) The probability that at any point of time the temperature increase is potentially dangerous is 0.467.

(c) The expected value of the temperature increase is 17.5°C.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let <em>X</em> = temperature increase.

The random variable <em>X</em> follows a continuous Uniform distribution, distributed over the range [10°C, 25°C].

The probability density function of <em>X</em> is:

f(X)=\left \{ {{\frac{1}{25-10}=\frac{1}{15};\ x\in [10, 25]} \atop {0;\ otherwise}} \right.

(a1)

Compute the probability that temperature increase will be less than 20°C as follows:

P(X

Thus, the probability that temperature increase will be less than 20°C is 0.667.

(a2)

Compute the probability that temperature increase will be between 20°C and 22°C as follows:

P(20

Thus, the probability that temperature increase will be between 20°C and 22°C is 0.133.

(b)

Compute the probability that at any point of time the temperature increase is potentially dangerous as follows:

P(X>18)=\int\limits^{25}_{18}{\frac{1}{15}}\, dx\\=\frac{1}{15}\int\limits^{25}_{18}{dx}\,\\=\frac{1}{15}[x]^{25}_{18}=\frac{1}{15}[25-18]=\frac{7}{15}\\=0.467

Thus, the probability that at any point of time the temperature increase is potentially dangerous is 0.467.

(c)

Compute the expected value of the uniform random variable <em>X</em> as follows:

E(X)=\frac{1}{2}[10+25]=\frac{35}{2}=17.5

Thus, the expected value of the temperature increase is 17.5°C.
