The heating coils in you toaster during the first five seconds after you turn the toaster on is Δ K = W + Q.

<span>Your automobile just before you fill it with gas until you pull away from the gas station at speed v is ΔK + ΔU + ΔEint = W + Q + TMW + TMT</span>

<span>your body while you sit quietly and eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch is ΔEint = Q + TET + TER
</span> <span>

your home during five minutes of a sunny afternoon while the temperature in the home remains fixed is ΔU = W + Q + TMW + TMT</span>

Nitrogen (n2) gas within a piston–cylinder assembly undergoes a compression from p1 = 20 bar, v1 = 0.5 m3 to a state where v2 =
Bingel [31]

Part a)

As we know that

P_1V_1^{1.35} = P_2V_2^{1.35}

here we know that

P1 = 20 bar

V1 = 0.5 m^3

V2 = 2.75 m^3

from above equation

20* 0.5^{1.35} = P * (2.75)^{1.35}

P = 2 bar

so final state pressure will be 2 bar

Part b)

now in order to find the work done

W = \int PdV

W = \int \frac{c}{V^{1.35}}dV

W = c\frac{V^{-0.35}}{-0.35}

W = \frac{P_1V_1 - P_2V_2}{0.35}

W = \frac{20* 0.5 - 2 * 2.75}{0.35}* 10^5 = 12.86 * 10^5 J

ery large accelerations can injure the body, especially if they last for a considerable length of time. One model used to gauge
IgorC [24]

Answer:

2.98 second

Explanation:

The severity index is defined by :

S=a^{5/2}t

a is dimensionless constant that equals the number of multiples of g

Conditions are given as :

Initial velocity, u = 0

Acceleration, a = 34 m/s²

Final velocity, v = 16.4 km/h = 4.56 m/s

We can find t from the above data as follows :

t=\dfrac{v-u}{a}\\\\t=\dfrac{4.56-0}{34}\\\\t=0.134\ s

As a is the acceleration that is multiple of g.

So,

a=\dfrac{34}{9.8}=3.46

So,

Severity index,

S=a^{5/2}t\\\\S=(3.46)^{5/2}\times 0.134\\\\S=2.98\ s

Hence, the severity index for the collision is 2.98 seconds.
