The substance that can be decomposed by chemical means is \boxed{{\text{c}}{\text{. methane}}}.

Further Explanation:

The pure form of matter is called substance whereas the combination of atoms and molecules is known as mixture.

Substance is further divided into two types:

1. Element

It is a type of pure substance and is the simplest form that cannot be broken down by any chemical means. Copper, iron, and cobalt are some of the examples of elements.

2. Compound

It is composed of two or more different elements that are held together by chemical bonds. These can be broken down into their respective constituents. Their properties are quite different from those of their constituent elements. NaCl, {\text{C}}{{\text{O}}_{\text{2}}} and {{\text{H}}_{\text{2}}}{\text{O}} are examples of compounds.

a. Cobalt is an element so it is the simplest form in which it can exist. Therefore it cannot be broken down or decomposed by chemical methods.

b. Krypton is an element so it is the simplest form in which it can exist. Therefore it cannot be broken down or decomposed by chemical methods.

c. Methane is formed from one carbon and four hydrogen atoms so it is a compound. Since compounds can be decomposed chemically, methane is also decomposed by chemical means.

d. Zirconium is an element so it is the simplest form in which it can exist. Therefore it cannot be broken down or decomposed by chemical methods.

0.15 gm of metallic oxide was dissolved in 100 ml of 0.1 N H2SO4 and 25.8 ml of 0.095N NaOH were used to neutralise the remainin
Mila [183]

Answer:

Explanation:

25.8 ml of .095 N NaOH is needed to neutralise the remaining acid

equivalent of NaOH used = 25.8 x .095 / 1000 = .002451 gm equivalent .

acid remaining = .002451 gm equivalent .

acid initially taken = 100 ml of .1 N  /  1000  = . 01 gm equivalent

acid reacted with metal = .01  -.002451 = .007549 gm equivalent

This must have reacted with same gram equivalent of metal oxide

.007549  gm equivalent = .15 gm of metal oxide

1 gm equivalent = 19.87 gm

equivalent weight of metal = 19.87 - equivalent weight of oxygen

= 19.87 - 8 = 11.87 .

A flask contains 0.180 mol of liquid bromine, br2. determine the number of bromine molecules present in the flask.
Reika [66]
<span>Avogadro's number represents the number of units in one mole of any substance. This has the value of 6.022 x 10^23 units / mole. This number can be used to convert the number of atoms or molecules into number of moles. We calculate as follows:

0.180 mol Br2 ( </span>6.022 x 10^23 molecules / mole ) = 1.084x10^23 molecules Br2

Los automóviles actuales tienen “parachoques de 5 mi/h (8 km/h)” diseñados para comprimirse y rebotar elásticamente sin ningún d
PilotLPTM [1.2K]

Answer:

k = 23045 N/m

Explanation:

To find the spring constant, you take into account the maximum elastic potential energy that the spring can support. The kinetic energy of the car must be, at least, equal to elastic potential energy of the spring when it is compressed to its limit. Then, you have:

K=U\\\\\frac{1}{2}Mv^2=\frac{1}{2}kx^2    (1)

M: mass of the car = 1050 kg

k: spring constant = ?

v: velocity of the car = 8 km/h

x: maximum compression of the spring = 1.5 cm = 0.015m

You solve the equation (1) for k. But first you convert the velocity v to m/s:

v=8\frac{km}{h}*\frac{1000m}{1km}*\frac{1h}{3600s}=2.222\frac{m}{s}

k=\frac{Mv^2}{x^2}=\frac{(1050kg)(2.222m/s)^2}{(0.015m)^2}=23045\frac{N}{m}

The spring constant is 23045 N/m

What is the mass of solute in 200.0 L of a 1.556-M solution of KBr
sergejj [24]
The molarity of KBr solution is 1.556 M
molarity is defined as the number of moles of solute in volume of 1 L solution.
the number of KBr moles in 1 L - 1.556 mol
Therefore in 200.0 L - 1.556 mol/L x 200.0 L = 311.2 mol
Molar mass of KBr - 119 g/mol
mass of Kbr - 311.2 mol x 119 g/mol = 37 033 g
mass of solute therefore is 37.033 kg

A balance measures mass to 0.001 g. If you determine the mass of an object that weighs about 30 g, would you record the mass as
solong [7]

Answer:

The mass is recorded as 32.075 g

Explanation:

"The first digit of uncertainty is taken as the last significant digit", this is the rule for significant figures in the analysis. The balance measures the mass up to three decimal places, so it makes the most sense to note the  whole figure.
