Talc is a mineral with low conductivity for heat and electricity which is not attacked by acid. it is used in talcum powder and

face powder. suppose a sample of talc weighs 13.65 g with a density of 1.75 g/cm3 in mineral oil. if this same sample of talc in air weighs 35.97 g, assuming no volume change, what is the density of the talc sample in air?

Answer is: density of the talc sample in air is 4,61 g/cm³.
m(talc) = 13,65 g.
d(talc) = 1,75 g/cm³.
V(talc) = m(talc) ÷ d(talc).
V(talc) = 13,65 g ÷ 1,75 g/cm³.
V(talc) = 7,8 cm³.
d(talc in air) = m(talc in air) ÷ V(talc).
d(talc in air) = 35,97 g ÷ 7,8 cm³.
d(talc in air) = 4,61 g/cm³.

Identify a process that is NOT reversible. Identify a process that is NOT reversible. melting of snow baking of bread deposition
slega [8]

Answer:

Identify a process that is NOT reversible.

Melting of snow

baking of bread

deposition of carbon dioxide

freezing water

melting of aluminum

Explanation:

A physical change is the one in which there is a change only in its physical state, color, the appearance of the substance. But the chemical composition of the substance remains unchanged.

It is a temporary change and can be reversed easily.

For example:

melting, freezing, deposition etc.

Baking is a permanent change and the chemical composition of the substance changes.

Hence, among the given options, baking of bread is not a reversible change.

Jessica has 12.7 moles of a compound for an experiment. How many particles of the compound does she have?
vlabodo [156]

The number of particles that are in 12.7 moles of compound that Jessica had is 7.65 x10^24 particles of compound ( answer E)

    Calculation

The number of particles are calculated using the Avogadro's Principle constant.

  • that is according to Avogadro's 1 moles = 6.02 x10^23 particles

             what about 12.7 moles of compound= ? particles\

   by use of cross multiplication

  • number of particles of compound= [12.7 moles x (6.02 x 10^23)] / 1 mole = 7.65 x 10^24 particles of compound ( answer E)

N.b moles and moles cancels each other

given that the molar mass of Na2SO4 × nH2O is 322.1 g/mol calculate the number of moles of water in this hydrate
Masja [62]
The molar mass of anhydrous Na₂SO₄ = [2(23) + 32 + 4(16)]
                                                                = 142 g/mol

If the molar mass of hydrated Na₂SO₄ = 322 g/mol

Since hydrated salt = Anhydrous Salt + Water

Then the mass of hydration (Water)= 322 g/mol - 142 g/mol
                                                           = 180 g/mol

Since the molar mass of water itself is 18 g/mol
⇒ Moles of water = 180 g/mol ÷ 18g/mol
                              = 10

Thus n = 10; the formula of the hydrated salt is Na₂SO₄ · 10H₂O (Sodium Sulphate Decahydrate)
