A long thin uniform rod of length 1.50 m is to be suspended from a frictionless pivot located at some point along the rod so tha
Dvinal [7]

Answer:

0.087 m

Explanation:

Length of the rod, L = 1.5 m

Let the mass of the rod is m and d is the distance between the pivot point and the centre of mass.

time period, T = 3  s

the formula for the time period of the pendulum is given by

T = 2\pi \sqrt{\frac{I}{mgd}}    .... (1)

where, I is the moment of inertia of the rod about the pivot point and g is the acceleration due to gravity.

Moment of inertia of the rod about the centre of mass, Ic = mL²/12

By using the parallel axis theorem, the moment of inertia of the rod about the pivot is

I = Ic + md²

I = \frac{mL^{2}}{12}+ md^{2}

Substituting the values in equation (1)

3 = 2 \pi \sqrt{\frac{\frac{mL^{2}}{12}+ md^{2}}{mgd}}

9=4\pi^{2}\times \left ( \frac{\frac{L^{2}}{12}+d^{2}}{gd} \right )

12d² -26.84 d + 2.25 =  0

d=\frac{26.84\pm \sqrt{26.84^{2}-4\times 12\times 2.25}}{24}

d=\frac{26.84\pm 24.75}{24}

d = 2.15 m , 0.087 m

d cannot be more than L/2, so the value of d is 0.087 m.

Thus, the distance between the pivot and the centre of mass of the rod is 0.087 m.

An object begins at position x = 0 and moves one-dimensionally along the x-axis witļi a velocity v
Liula [17]

Answer:

The answer is "between 20 s and 30 s".

Explanation:

Calculating the value of positive displacement:

\ (x_{+ve}) = \frac{1}{2} \times 15 \times  20 \\\\

          = \frac{1}{2} \times 300 \\\\=  150 \\\\

Calculating the value of negative displacement upon the time t:

(x_{-ve}) = \frac{1}{2} \times 5 \times 20- 20(t-20) \\\\

          = \frac{1}{2} \times 100- 20t+ 400 \\\\= 50- 20t+ 400 \\\\

\to X= X_{+ve} + X_{-ve} \\\\

\to  150 - 50 -20t+400 =0\\\\\to 100 -20t+400 =0 \\\\\to 500 -20t =0\\\\\to 20t =500 \\\\\to t=\frac{500}{20}\\\\\to t=\frac{50}{2}\\\\\to t= 25

That's why its value lie in "between 20 s and 30 s".

3. A 75kg man sits at one end of a uniform seesaw pivoted at its center, and his 24kg son sits at the
bulgar [2K]

Answer:

The wife have to sit at 0.46 L from the middle point of the seesaw.

Explanation:

We need to make a sketch of the seesaw and the loads acting over it.

And by the studying of the Newton's law we can find the equation useful to find the distance of the mother sitting on the seesaw with respect to the center ot the pivot point.

A logical intuition will give us the idea that the mother will be on the side of her son to make the balance.

The maximum momentum with respect to the pivot point (0) will be:

M=75 *\frac{L}{2}

Where L/2 is the half of the distance of the seesaw

Therefore the other loads ( mom + son) must be create a momentum equal to the maximum momentum.

A 1.50-m cylinder of radius 1.10 cm is made of a complicated mixture of materials. Its resistivity depends on the distance x fro
MArishka [77]

Answer:

Resistance = 3.35*10^{-4} Ω

Explanation:

Since resistance R = ρ\frac{L}{A}

whereas \rho(x) = a + bx^2

resistivity is given for two ends. At the left end resistivity is 2.25* 10^{-8} whereas x at the left end will be 0 as distance is zero. Thus

2.25*10^{-8} = a + b(0)^2\\ 2.25*10^{-8} = a + 0 \\2.25*10^{-8} = a

At the right end x will be equal to the length of the rod, so x = 1.50\\8.50*10^{-8} = (2.25*10^{-8}) + ( b* (1.50)^2 )\\8.50*10^{-8} - (2.25*10^{-8}) = b*2.25\\\frac{6.25*10^{-8}}{2.25}  = b\\b = 2.77 *10^{-8}

Thus resistance will be R = ρ\frac{L}{A}

where A = π r^2

so,

R = \frac{8.50*10^{-8} * 1.50}{3.14*(1.10*10^{-2})^2} \\R=3.35 * 10 ^{-4}
