Distance is the total amount they each walked. Zamir took a longer path. Their displacement is the difference from where they started and where they stopped. Their displacement is the same because they both ended at the same position as they started.

Sample Response: Zamir and Talia’s total distances are different because they walked different paths in the maze. Zamir took a longer path. However, they had the same displacement because they both ended at the same position.

Suppose you increase your walking speed from 1 m/s to 3 m/s in a period of 1 s. What is your acceleration?
Effectus [21]

Answer:

2 m/s²

Explanation:

a = Δv / Δt

a = (3 m/s − 1 m/s) / 1 s

a = 2 m/s²

A 1 530-kg automobile has a wheel base (the distance between the axles) of 2.70 m. The automobile's center of mass is on the cen
NeTakaya

Answer:

Force on front axle = 6392.85 N

Force on rear axle = 8616.45 N

Explanation:

As we know that the weight of the car is balanced by the normal force on the front wheel and rear wheels

Now we know that

F_1 + F_2 = W

F_1 + F_2 = (1530\times 9.81)

F_1 + F_2 = 15009.3 N

now we know that distance between the axis is 2.70 m and centre of mass is 1.15 m behind front axle

so we can write torque balance about its center of mass

F_1(1.15) = F_2(2.70 - 1.15)

F_1 = 1.35 F_2

now from above equation

F_2 + 1.35F_2 = 15009.3

now we have

F_2 = 6392.85 N

now the other force is given as

F_1 = 8616.45 N

7. A local sign company needs to install a new billboard. The signpost is 30 m tall, and the ladder truck is parked 24 m away fr
wolverine [178]
<h2>Solution :</h2>

Here ,

• Height of sign post = 30 m

• Distance between signpost and truck = 24 m

Let the

• Top of signpost = A

• Bottom of signpost = B

• The end of truck facing sign post be = C

Now as we can clearly imagine that the ladder will act as an hypotenuse to the Triangle ABC .

Where

• AB = Height of signpost = 30 m

• BC = distance between both = 24 m

• AC = Minimum length of ladder

→ AC² = AB² + BC² ( As we can see AB is perpendicular to BC )

→ AC² = (30)² + (24)²

→ AC² = 900 + 576

→ AC² = 1476

→ AC = 38.41875

or AC apx = 38.42

So minimum height of ladder = 38.42

A small crack occurs at the base of a 15.0-m-high dam. The effective area through which water leaves is 2.30 × 10-3 m2. (a) Igno
vova2212 [387]

Answer

given,

height of the dam = 15 m

effective area of water = 2.3 x 10⁻³ m²

Using energy conservation

    m g h = \dfrac{1}{2}mv^2

    v= \sqrt{2gh}

    v= \sqrt{2\times 9.8 \times 15}

    v= \sqrt{294}

           v = 17.15 m/s

 discharge of water

      Q = A V

      Q = 2.3 x 10⁻³ x 17.15

      Q = 0.039 m³/s

17. The edges of a rectangular solid have these measures: 1.5 feet by 1½ feet by 3 inches. What is its volume in cubic inches? a
Alisiya [41]

Answer:

c. 972

Explanation:

The volume of a rectangular solid is calculated as the product of its dimensions, that is, its width, its length and its height:

V=a*b*h

1 feet is equal to 12 inches, so:

a=1.5ft*\frac{12in}{1ft}=18in\\b=(1+\frac{1}{2})ft\\b=\frac{3}{2}ft*\frac{12in}{1ft}=18in

Now, we calculate the volume of the object in cubic inches:

V=18in*18in*3in\\V=972in^3
