The answers are "tails of comets, the ionosphere, and a neon sign." or options A, D, and E. Tails of comments are mainly made of plasma. Ice cubes are examples of a solid. A gas fire key word gas is example of a gas. The ionosphere is also mainly made of plasma. A neon sign uses plasma in order to work. A flashlight uses a light bulb which isn't a example of plasma therefore thats a no.

Hope this helps!

A piston containing 0.120moles of methane gas, CH4, has a volume of 2.12liters. If methane is added until the volume is increase
earnstyle [38]

Answer:

2.83 g

Explanation:

At constant temperature and pressure, Using Avogadro's law

\frac {V_1}{n_1}=\frac {V_2}{n_2}

Given ,

V₁ = 2.12 L

V₂ = 3.12 L

n₁ = 0.120 moles

n₂ = ?

Using above equation as:

\frac{2.12}{0.120}=\frac{3.12}{n_2}

2.12n_2=0.12\cdot \:3.12

2.12n_2=0.3744

n_2=\frac{0.3744}{2.12}

n_2=0.17660

n₂ = 0.17660 moles

Molar mass of methane gas = 16.05 g/mol

So, Mass = Moles*Molar mass = 0.17660 * 16.05 g = 2.83 g

2.83 g are in the piston.

What is the maximum number of hydrogen atoms that can be covalently bonded in a molecule containing two carbon atoms?a) 2b) 3c)
aksik [14]

Answer:

           The correct answer is Option-D (6 Hydrogen atoms).

Explanation:

                  Carbon atom has a unique property of linking to it self and making a chain of carbon called as Catenation. In a molecule having two carbon atoms there must be a bond between the two carbon atoms. The bond can be saturated (single bond) or unsaturated (double or triple bond). But as the statement states maximum number of hydrogen atoms so, we will asume the bond between two carbon atoms to be single.

                  As carbon has four valence electrons so, it has the ability to make four single bonds. In given molecule each carbon has already made a single bond with another carbon therefore, each carbon is left with three more unpaired electrons which will make covalent bond with three hydrogen atoms each as shown in attached structure.

A chemist heats 100.0 g of FeSO4 x 7H2O in a crucible to drive off the water. If all the water is driven off, what is the mass o
Ierofanga [76]
FeSO₄*7H₂O(s) = FeSO₄(s) + 7H₂O(g)

M(FeSO₄*7H₂O)=278.0 g/mol
M(FeSO₄)=151.9 g/mol

m(FeSO₄*7H₂O)/M(FeSO₄*7H₂O)=m(FeSO₄)/M(FeSO₄)

m(FeSO₄)=M(FeSO₄)m(FeSO₄*7H₂O)/M(FeSO₄*7H₂O)

m(FeSO₄)=151.9*100.0/278.0=54.6 g

m(FeSO₄)=54.6 g

For the reaction: MgF2(s) ⇌ Mg2+(aq) + 2F- (aq), Ksp= 6.4 × 10-9, the addition of 0.10 M NaF to the solution cause what effect o
galina1969 [7]

Answer:

Shifts the equilibrium to the left. reduces solubility.

Explanation:

  • MgF2(s) ↔ Mg2+(aq) + 2F-(aq)

          S                   S              2S

∴ Ksp = 6.4 E-9 = [ Mg2+ ] * [ F- ]² = S * (2S)²

⇒ 4S² * S = 6.4 E-9

⇒ 4S³ = 6.4 E-9

⇒ S³ = 1.6 E-9

⇒ S = 1.1696 E-3 M

  • NaF(s) → Na+(aq)  +  F-(aq)

        0.10M     0.10M        0.10M

  • MgF2(s) ↔ Mg2+(aq)  + 2F-(aq)

          S'                 S'              2S' + 0.10

⇒ Ksp = 6.4 E-9 = (S')*(2S' + 0.10)²

If we compare the concentration (0.10 M) of the ion with Ksp ( 6.4 E-9 ); thne we can neglect S' as adding:

⇒ 6.4 E-9 = (S')*(0.10)² = 0.01S'

⇒ S' = 6.4 E-7 M

∴ % S' = ( 6.4 E-7 / 0.1 )*100 = 6.4 E-4% <<< 5%, we can make the assumption

We can observe that S >> S' ( 1.1696 E-3 M >> 6.4 E-7 M ), which shows that the solubility is reduced by the efect of the common ion from the salt, which causes the equilibrium to shift to the left, precipitating part of MgF2(s).
