Force on a charge placed in electric field is given by

F = qE

here q = -0.60 /mu C

E = 1.2 * 10^6 N/c

magnitude of force is given by

F = 1.2 * 10^6* 0.60 * 10^{-6}

F = 0.72 N

Direction of force is opposite to electric field direction as it is a negative charge

so direction is towards EAST

550 J of work must be done to compress a gas to half its initial volume at constant temperature. How much work must be done to c
Over [174]

Answer:

The amount of work that must be done to compress the gas 11 times less than its initial pressure is 909.091 J

Explanation:

The given variables are

Work done = 550 J

Volume change = V₂ - V₁ = -0.5V₁

Thus the product of pressure and volume change = work done by gas, thus

P × -0.5V₁ = 500 J

Hence -PV₁ = 1000 J

also P₁/V₁ = P₂/V₂ but V₂ = 0.5V₁ Therefore  P₁/V₁ = P₂/0.5V₁ or P₁ = 2P₂

Also to compress the gas by a factor of 11 we have

P (V₂ - V₁) = P×(V₁/11 -V₁) = P(11V₁ - V₁)/11 = P×-10V₁/11 = -PV₁×10/11 = 1000 J ×10/11  = 909.091 J of work

Why does frost bite occur in mountain climbers ?
san4es73 [151]

Answer:

The higher the altitude the colder

Explanation:

Mountains are very high up obviously higher then the ground. It is colder so it makes it easier for mountain climbers to get frost bite because of the high altitude.

Hope this helps:)

An airplane is flying at a constant velocity through the air. What is the relationship between the magnitudes of the four forces
zalisa [80]

Answer:

(B) L=W; F=D

Explanation:

Since the airplane's velocity is constant, the airplane is not accelerating in any direction. In absence of acceleration, all forces acting on the plane are balanced so that the net forces in the horizontal and the vertical directions are zero. Given the drawing, this implies that

Forward force = Drag force (F=D)

Weight = Lift (W=L)

which corresponds to option (B)

(it is not C because nothing in the text says that the vertical and horizontal components have to have same magnitude)

A spherical balloon is filled with gas at a rate of 4 cm 3 /s . at what rate is the radius r changing with with respect to time
Gnoma [55]
The volume of the sphere is given by V = 4/3 * pie * r^3. We seek dr/dt that the rate of change of the radius with respect to time.
V = 4/3 * pie * r^3
Since we know the rate at which the volume changes wrt time. We can plug it in to find dr/dt.
 dV/dt = 36pie. But dV/dt = 4/3 * pie * 3r^2 * dr/dt
 So we have that dr/dt = (dV/dt) / 4/3 * pie * 3r^2
 So dr/dt = (36pie)/ 4/3 * pie * 3(4)^2
 dr/dt = 113.112/ 201.0864 = 0.5624

An 8 kg toddler is running at a speed of 10 m/s.<br> how much energy does he have?
wlad13 [49]
To find the Kinetic energy this is the equation

KE=1/2mv^2

so we know the mass (m) which is 8kg

we also know the velocity (v) which is 10 m/s

so we plug that into the equation and it should look like this - 1/2(8kg)(10m/s)^2 now we solve

so 1/2 x 8 = 4 so then we just do (4)(10)^2 which gets us 400.

Since kinetic=Joules

The answer is 400 J
