Ice melts at a constant temperature of 0° C

heat absorbed by ice while melting = mass of ice melted × Ice's heat of fusion              ------------------ eq1

Mass of ice = 450g

need to calculate 2/3 of its melted :-  2/3 of 450 =  300g

mass of ice melted = 300g and ice's heat of fusion( 333.55J/gm)

(value of ice's heat of fusion is universal constant)

from eq1 :-  Heat absorbed = 300 ×  333.55  =  100065 J =>   100.065Kj

An alkene with the molecular formula C8H16 undergoes ozonolysis to yield a mixture of (CH3)2C=O and (CH3)3CCHO. The alkene is:
aalyn [17]

Answer:

2,4,4-trimethyl-2-pentene yields mixture of (CH_{3})_{2}C=O and (CH_{3})_{3}CHO

Explanation:

In ozonolysis (hydrolysis step involve a reducing agent such as Zn, Me_{2}S etc.), a pi bond is broken to form ketone/aldehyde.

Ketone is formed from di-substituted side of double bond and aldehyde is formed from mono-substituted side of double bond.

Ozoznolysis involves two consecutive steps : (1) formation of ozonide, (2) hydrolysis of ozonide.

Hydrolysis can be done with/without using reducing agent. Carboxylic acid/carbon dioxide/ketone is produced when hydrolysis is done without using reducing agent.

Here, 2,4,4-trimethyl-2-pentene yields mixture of (CH_{3})_{2}C=O and (CH_{3})_{3}CHO

Reaction steps are shown below.

A sample of fluorine gas is confined in a 5.0-L container at 0.432 atm and 37 °C. How many moles of gas are in this sample?
Ahat [919]

Answer:

About 0.08486 moles

Explanation:

PV=nRT, when P is the pressure in atmospheres, V is the volume in liters, n is the number of moles, R is the universal gas constant, and T is the temperature in Kelvin.

0.432 \cdot 5= n \cdot 0.0821 \cdot 310

n\approx 0.08486 moles

Hope this helps!

Calculate the radius ratio for NaBr if the ionic radii of Na + and Br − are 102 pm and 196 pm , respectively. radius ratio: Base
Fudgin [204]

Answer : The expected coordination number of NaBr is, 6.

Explanation :

Cation-anion radius ratio : It is defined as the ratio of the ionic radius of the cation to the ionic radius of the anion in a cation-anion compound.

This is represented by,

\frac{r_{cation}}{r_{anion}}

When the radius ratio is greater than 0.155, then the compound will be stable.

Now we have to determine the radius ration for NaBr.

Given:

Radius of cation, Na^+ = 102 pm

Radius of cation, Br^- = 196 pm

\frac{r_{cation}}{r_{anion}}=\frac{102}{196}=0.520

As per question, the radius of cation-anion ratio is between 0.414-0.732. So, the coordination number of NaBr will be, 6.

The relation between radius ratio and coordination number are shown below.

Therefore, the expected coordination number of NaBr is, 6.
