Which statements identify what astronomers currently know and think will happen with our universe? Check all that apply. The big

bang produced dark energy, which accounts for some of the energy needed to expand the universe. The vastness of space may contain a type of matter known as "dark matter." The universe is currently shrinking at a rapid rate. The universe is currently expanding at an accelerating rate. The big bang theory explains all the energy and matter discovered by scientists.

Answer: Options (1), (2) and (4)

Explanation: According to the big bang theory, the following events has taken place-

  • The universe started from a point of singularity, releasing a huge mount of energy along with matters, dust and gas particles.
  • The universe is vast and is constantly expanding at an accelerating rate.
  • The dark matters in the universe are mostly dominating, comprised of about 80-85%.
  • Though a huge number of matters are present in the universe, scientists are able to study only a portion of it.

Elina [12.6K]

Answer:

a)Initial speed of the projectile = 196.2 m/s

b)Maximum altitude = 490.5 m

c) Range of projectile = 3398.28 m

d) Displacement from the point of launch to the position on its trajectory at 15 s = 2575.12 m

Explanation:

Time of flight of a projectile is given by the expression,

               t=\frac{2usin\theta}{g}

           Here θ = 30° and t = 20 s

a) t=\frac{2usin\theta}{g}\\\\20=\frac{2\times usin30}{9.81}\\\\u=196.2m/s

  Initial speed of the projectile = 196.2 m/s

b) Maximum altitude is given by

                  H=\frac{u^2sin^2\theta}{2g}=\frac{196.2^2\times sin^230}{2\times 9.81}=490.5m

      Maximum altitude = 490.5 m

c) Range of projectile is given by

                              R=\frac{u^2sin2\theta}{g}=\frac{196.2^2\times sin(2\times 30)}{9.81}=3398.28m

    Range of projectile = 3398.28 m

d) Horizontal velocity = ucosθ = 196.2 x cos 30 = 169.91 m/s

   Vertical velocity = usinθ = 196.2 x sin 30 = 98.1 m/s

   We have equation of motion s = ut + 0.5 at²

   Horizontal motion

                         u = 169.91 m/s

                         a = 0 m/s²

                          t = 15 s

                Substituting

                          s = 169.91 x 15 + 0.5 x 0 x 15² = 2548.71 m

      Vertical motion

                         u = 98.1 m/s

                         a = -9.81 m/s²

                          t = 15 s

                Substituting

                          s = 98.1 x 15 + 0.5 x -9.81 x 15² = 367.88 m

   \texttt{Total displacement =}\sqrt{2548.71^2+367.88^2}=2575.12m

   Displacement from the point of launch to the position on its trajectory at 15 s = 2575.12 m

A car drives toward the right over the top of a hill, as shown below. An illustration of car at the top of a hill pointing right
Sav [38]

Answer: X

Explanation:

This situation can be illustrated as a car in circular motion (image attached).

In circular motion the acceleration vector \vec{a} is always directed toward the center of the circumference (that's why it's called centripetal acceleration).

So, in this case the arrow labeled X is the only that points toward the center, hence it represents the car's centripetal acceleration

Ilya [14]

Answer:

There is an inward force acting on the can

Explanation:

This inward force is known as Centripetal force and it is responsible for making the can whirl on the end of a string in circle and it is also directed towards the center around which the can is moving.

In the produce section of a supermarket, five pears are placed on a spring scale. The placement of the pears stretches the sprin
tankabanditka [31]

Answer:

The displacement of the spring due to weight is 0.043 m

Explanation:

Given :

Mass m = 2 Kg

Spring constant k = 450 \frac{N}{m}

According to the hooke's law,

  F = -kx

Where F = force, x = displacement

Here,

F = mg         ( g = 9.8 \frac{m}{s^{2} } )

F = 2 \times 9.8 = 19.6 N

Now for finding displacement,

  x = \frac{F}{k}

Here minus sign only represent the direction so we take magnitude of it.

  x = \frac{19.6}{450}

  x = 0.043 m

Therefore, the displacement of the spring due to weight is 0.043 m

A professor determined the relationship between the time spent studying (in hours) and performance on an exam.
lubasha [3.4K]
Lets write again formula for determening Ann's performance.

P = 70.443 + 4,885*t

where t is in hours. This is equation with P(t) which means that P only depends on variable t. If we express t=2.6 in formula we will find her expected performance.

P = 83.144

Now, since it says that she scored 16 points less than expected we need to find value of P-16

P - 16 = 67.144

After round we get that the answer is 67
