The chemical reaction of the reactants, NaCH3COO and HCl, is written as follows:

<span>NaCh3COO + HCl = NaCl + CH3COOH

To balance it, the number of atoms of an element in one side should be equal to the other side. By looking at the reaction, I believe it is already balanced. They have 1 is to 1 ratios.</span>

This is an <u>acid-base reaction</u> in which the HCl is the acid and the CH_3COONa is the base.

In the <u>balanced reaction</u>, we will have a double replacement reaction. In which the cation of  CH_3COONa (in this case Na^+) will be exchanged by the hydronium ion H^+ from the HCl. Similarly the anion of HCl (Cl^- ) would bond with the cation Na^+ to form NaCl.
