Two balloons (m = 0.021 kg) are separated by a distance of d = 16 m. They are released from rest and observed to have an instant

aneous acceleration of a = 1.1 m/s2 toward each other at the moment they are released. Assume the two balloons are point charges and have equal but opposite charges

(a) 2.56\cdot 10^{-5} C

According to Newton's second law, the force experienced by each balloon is given by:

F = ma

where

m = 0.021 kg is the mass

a = 1.1 m/s^2 is the acceleration

Substituting, we found:

F=(0.021)(1.1)=0.0231 N

The electrostatic force between the two balloons can be also written as

F=k\frac{Q^2}{r^2}

where

k is the Coulomb's constant

Q is the charge on each balloon

r = 16 m is their separation

Since we know the value of F, we can find Q, the magnitude of the charge on each balloon:

Q=\sqrt{\frac{Fr^2}{k}}=\sqrt{\frac{(0.0231)(16)^2}{9\cdot 10^9}}=2.56\cdot 10^{-5} C

(b) 1.6\cdot 10^{14} electrons

The magnitude of the charge of one electron is

e=1.6\cdot 10^{-19}C

While the magnitude of the charge on one balloon is

Q=2.56\cdot 10^{-5} C

This charge can be written as

Q=Ne

where N is the number of electrons that are responsible for this charge. Solving for N, we find:

N=\frac{Q}{e}=\frac{2.56\cdot 10^{-5}}{1.6\cdot 10^{-19}}=1.6\cdot 10^{14}

1) What is the highest atomic number element a red dwarf star can produce in its core? a. Carbon b. Oxygen c. Helium d. Iron
bonufazy [111]

Answer:

1) c. Helium

2) Iron

3) False.

Explanation:

1. Red dwarf is the smallest and the coolest star on the sequence. These are common stars in the milky way. Red dwarfs contains metals and the elements with higher atomic number. It is found that Helium is produced in red dwarf stars.

2. Iron is the highest atomic number element that is produced in cores of largest stars. The highest mass stars can make all elements up to iron, which is the heaviest element they can produce.

3. The end of stars life is dependent on the mass they are born with. It is not necessary that all red dwarf stars will become white dwarf stars faster than sun like star.

alexira [117]
<h3><u>Answer</u>;</h3>

= 22°

<h3><u>Explanation</u>;</h3>
  • According to Snell's law, the ratio of the sine of the angle of incidence to the sine of the angle of refraction is a constant. The constant value is called the refractive index of the second medium with respect to the first.
  • Therefore; Sin i/Sin r = η

In this case; Angle of incidence = 90° -60° =30°, angle of refraction =? and η = 1.33

Thus;

Sin 30 / Sin r = 1.33

Sin r = Sin 30°/1.33

       = 0.3759

r = Sin^-1 0.3759

   = 22.08

   <u>≈ 22°</u>

Dentists' chairs are examples of hydraulic-lift systems. If a chair weighs 1400 N and rests on a piston with a cross-sectional a
NeX [460]

Answer:

Force applied to smaller cross section is

= 82.63 N

Explanation:

As we know

F_2 A_1 = F_1 A_2

where F1, F2 signifies the weight of the two chair in a hydraulic-lift system

And A_1, A_2 signifies the area of the two respective chairs in a hydraulic-lift system

Given -

F2=1400 N

A1 =1220 Square centimeter

A_2 = 72 Square centimeter

Substituting the given values in above equation, we get -

1400 * 72 = F1 * 1220\\F2 = 82.63

Force applied to smaller cross section is

= 82.63 N

Answer:

If the mass of a star is greater than 3 solar masses, it will create a black hole. If its mass is less, it will create a neutron star.

Explanation:

If a star's gravity is high enough, when it condenses on itself, it will form a black hole. Otherwise, it will create a large amount of highly dense matter, such as a neutron star. It can be said that if the mass of a star is greater than 3 solar masses, it will create a black hole. If its mass is less, it will create a neutron star.
