When you’re driving on a level road and there’s ice on the pavement, you hardly notice that ice while you’re heading straight at

a constant speed. Why is it that you only notice how slippery the road is when you try to turn left or right, or to speed up or slow down?

Answer:We only Friction while accelerating or decelerating

Explanation:

This occurs because when we try to turn left or right , we are trying to change the velocity of car which in turns result in acceleration and finally change in force .

Change in force causes friction to vary and we experience the slipperiness of road.

The electric field at a point 2.8 cm from a small object points toward the object with a strength of 180,000 N/C. What is the ob
givi [52]

Answer:

Charge, Q=1.56\times 10^{-8}\ C

Explanation:

It is given that,

Electric field strength, E = 180000 N/C

Distance from a small object, r = 2.8 cm = 0.028 m

Electric field at a point is given by :

E=\dfrac{kQ}{r^2}

Q is the charge on an object

Q=\dfrac{Er^2}{k}

Q=\dfrac{180000\ N/C\times (0.028\ m)^2}{9\times 10^9\ Nm^2/C^2}

Q=1.56\times 10^{-8}\ C

So, the charge on the object is 1.56\times 10^{-8}\ C. Hence, this is the required solution.

4.A photon of green light strikes an unknown metal and an electron is emitted. The voltage is set to 2 volts. The electron canno
Anarel [89]
4) The correct answer is:
B. An electron will be emitted in the second experiment, but it cannot be determined whether it will reach the second plate.

In fact, violet light has higher frequency than green light. This means that photons of violet light carry more energy than photons of green light (remember that the energy of a photon is proportional to its frequency: E=hf), so when they hit the surface of the metal, more energy is transferred to the electrons. The electron was already emitted with green light, so it must be emitted also with violet light, given the more energy transferred. The electron will also have more kinetic energy when hit by violet light, however, we cannot determine if it will reach the second plate, since we don't know how much energy has been used to extract the electron from the metal (in fact, we don't know the work function of the metal, i.e. the energy needed to extract the electron)

3) The correct answer is
A. Violet light will cause electrons to be emitted at greater velocities than those removed by green light.

In fact, violet light has higher frequency than green light. This means that photons of violet light carry more energy than photons of green light (remember that the energy of a photon is proportional to its frequency: E=hf), so when they hit the surface of the metal, more energy is transferred to the electrons. Therefore, the emitted electrons will have on average greater energy (and so, greater velocity) than those removed by green light.

A lawn sprinkler sprays water 8 feet at full pressure as it rotates 360 degrees. if the water pressure is reduced by 50%, what i
lina2011 [118]
The area of the sprinkles can be determined through the area of a circle that is pi * r^2 in which the given dimensions above are the radii, r. The second scenarios radius is only half of the original, that is 4 ft. In this case, we can compute the area of the second again. We calculate next the difference of two areas of circles.

Human muscles have an efficiency of about __________. A. 9 to 17% B. 18 to 26% C. 27 to 35% D. 36 to 44%
xxTIMURxx [149]

Answer:

The correct answer would be B. 18 to 26%.

The muscle efficiency is calculated by dividing mechanical work output by total metabolic cost.

It is estimated that human muscles have an efficiency of about 18% to 26%.

The efficiency is low because most of the energy is lost when food energy is converted into ATP (adenosine triphophate).

In addition, there is second energy loss when energy in the form of ATP is converted into the mechanical energy such as rowing, cycling et cetera.
