A small cylinder rests on a circular turntable that is rotating clockwise at a constant speed. The cylinder is at a distance of

r = 12 cm from the center of the turntable. The coefficient of static friction between the bottom of the cylinder and the surface of the turntable is 0.45. What is the maximum speed vmax that the cylinder can have without slipping off the turntable?

Answer:

The maximum speed vmax = 0.727 m/s

Explanation

Given that

Distance ,r= 12 cm

Coefficient of static friction , μ= 0.45

Lets the mass of cylinder is m.

The friction force on the cylinder Fr = μ m g

Force due to rotation F

F=mv^2/r

v= Speed of rotation

The condition for no slipping

Fr= F

\mu mg=mv^2/r

v=\sqrt{\mu rg}

Now by pitting the values

v=\sqrt{0.45\times 0.12\times 9.81}\ m/s

v=0.727 m/s

So

The maximum speed vmax = 0.727 m/s

A tennis ball of mass m=0.060 kg and speed v=25 m/s strikes a wall at a 45 angle and rebounds with the same velocity at 45°. Wha
Diano4ka-milaya [45]

To solve this problem we will apply the concepts related to the Impulse which can be defined as the product between mass and the total change in velocity. That is to say

p = m\Delta v

Here,

m = mass

\Delta v = Change in velocity

As we can see there are two types of velocity at the moment the object makes the impact,

the first would be the initial velocity perpendicular to the wall and the final velocity perpendicular to the wall.

That is to say,

v_i = vcos\theta

v_f = -v sin\theta

El angulo dado es de 45° y la velocidad de 25, por tanto

v_i = (25)cos(45) = 17.68m/s

v_f = -(25)sin(45) = -17.68m/s

The change of sign indicates a change in the direction of the object.

Therefore the impulse would be as

p = 0.060(-17.68-17.68)

p = -2.12kg \cdot m/s

The negative sign indicates that the pulse is in the opposite direction of the initial velocity.

For the first 10 seconds a squirrel runs 3 m/s to look for an acorn. The next 5 seconds he eats an acorn that he finds. Afterwar
Gala2k [10]

Distance covered by the squirrel to look for an acorn :

d = ( 3 m/s ) × 10 s = 30 m.

Time taken to eat an Acron is 5 seconds.

Time taken to cover distance of 30 m with 2 m/s speed is :

T=\dfrac{30}{2}\ s= 15 \ s

Therefore, total time take to  get back to where he started is ( 10+5+15 ) = 30 s.

Hence, this is the required solution.

High-speed stroboscopic photographs show that the head of a 200 g golf club is traveling at 43.7 m/s just before it strikes a 45
Helga [31]

Answer:

41.27m/s

Explanation:

According to law of conservation of momentum

m1u1+m2u2 = (m1+m2)v

m1 and m2 are the masses

u1 and u2 are the initial velocities

v is the velocity after impact

Given

m1 = 0.2kg

u1 = 43.7m/s

m2 = 45.9g = 0.0459kg

u2 = 30.7m/s

Required

Velocity after impact v

Substitute the given parameters into the formula

0.2(43.7)+0.0459(30.7) = (0.2+0.0459)v

8.74+1.409 = 0.2459v

10.149 = 0.2459v

v = 10.149/0.2459

v = 41.27m/s

Hence the speed of the golf ball immediately after impact is 41.27m/s

a ford is traveling with a speed of 15m/s and is 200 meters ahead of a Chevy that is traveling in the same direction but at a sp
Andru [333]
Make an equation for both.
Ford= 15t+200
Chevy=20t
Now you must set them equal and solve for time t. Giving you 40 seconds. Now plug that in to the chevy equation to get 800 meters.
