You want to test the effect of pH on the distribution of Artemia in your 35cm long testing chamber. If you measure a pH = 1 at o

ne end of the chamber and a pH = 13 at the other end, and the gradient distribution along the testing chamber is linear, what would you predict the pH to be 10 cm from the most acidic end?

Answer:

The pH to be 10 cm from the most acidic end is 3.42.

Explanation:

The pH at one end = 1

The pH at another end = 13

Length of the chamber = 13 cm

Change in pH with respect to length of the chamber from acidic end = x=\frac{13-1}{35 cm}=\frac{12}{35} pH/cm

So, the pH of the chamber  10 cm from the most acidic end:

\frac{12}{35} pH/cm\times 10 cm = 3.42

The pH to be 10 cm from the most acidic end is 3.42.

The phosphorylation of glucose to glucose 6-phosphate Group of answer choices is so strongly exergonic that it does not require
kirill115 [55]

Answer:

The phosphorylation of glucose to glucose-6-phosphate is endergonic reaction that is coupled to the exergonic hydrolysis of ATP.

Explanation:

In glycosis, the first reaction that takes place is the phosphorylation of glucose to glucose-6-phosphate by the enzyme hexokinase. This is an exergenic reaction. This is a coupled reaction in which phosphorylation of glucose is coupled to ATP hydrolysis. The free energy of ATP hydrolysis fuels glucose phosphorylation.

An alkene with the molecular formula C8H16 undergoes ozonolysis to yield a mixture of (CH3)2C=O and (CH3)3CCHO. The alkene is:
aalyn [17]

Answer:

2,4,4-trimethyl-2-pentene yields mixture of (CH_{3})_{2}C=O and (CH_{3})_{3}CHO

Explanation:

In ozonolysis (hydrolysis step involve a reducing agent such as Zn, Me_{2}S etc.), a pi bond is broken to form ketone/aldehyde.

Ketone is formed from di-substituted side of double bond and aldehyde is formed from mono-substituted side of double bond.

Ozoznolysis involves two consecutive steps : (1) formation of ozonide, (2) hydrolysis of ozonide.

Hydrolysis can be done with/without using reducing agent. Carboxylic acid/carbon dioxide/ketone is produced when hydrolysis is done without using reducing agent.

Here, 2,4,4-trimethyl-2-pentene yields mixture of (CH_{3})_{2}C=O and (CH_{3})_{3}CHO

Reaction steps are shown below.
