Answer:

a. Her moment of inertia increases and she rotates slower.

Explanation:

As we know that initially when she starts her motion she is in piked position due to which her whole mass is concentrated near the axis of rotation

So here the rotational Inertia of her body will be smaller

Now when is comes closer to the position of landing she extends into layout position due to which her mass will move away from the axis of rotation

Due to this the rotational inertia of her body will increase

now we know that there is no external torque on the system

so here angular momentum must be conserved

So we will have

I\omega = constant

so if rotational inertia is increasing then angular speed must be slower

so correct answer will be

a. Her moment of inertia increases and she rotates slower.

Which of the following best describes a capacitor?
galben [10]

Answer:

B

Explanation:

The capacitor is a component which has the ability to store energy in the form of an electrical charge making a potential difference on those two metal plates

A capacitor consists of two or more parallel conductive (metal) plates. They are electrically seperated by an insulating material (ex: air, mica, ceramic etc.) which is called as Dielectric Layer

Due to this insulating layer, DC current can not flow through the capacitor. But it allows a voltage to be present across the plates in the form of an electrical charge.

A cylinder is sliced in half along its diagonal. Determine the location of the center of mass and the inertia properties relativ
Black_prince [1.1K]

Answer:

See the explanation below

Explanation:

To better understand this problem, a cylinder sketch is attached before and after the cut, we see that after the cut, the shape of this resembles that of a right triangle.

We can find, the centroid in the xy plane, knowing that the centroid for a triangle is located a third of its base.

In the z axis there is no displacement of the centroid.

Which of the following statements is FALSE?
Levart [38]

A thrust fault is a reverse fault with an extremely high dip (close to 90°). This is the false statement.

Answer: Option D

Explanation:

Faults are the fracture or fracture zone occurring on the rocks. These fractures can travel through the rocks leading to massive destruction. So, depending upon the direction of their travel, the faults can be classified as normal, reverse and strike slip fault. Also, the angle of dip along the fault is one of the important criteria for determining the type of faults.

There is dip-slip fault which has its movement along the vertical fault plane while the strike slip fault will be in horizontal direction. Similarly, an oblique fault will be acting in both vertical and the horizontal direction. So, the fourth statement related to thrust fault is false as in reverse fault or thrust fault the dip will be shallow and not high.

A falling skydiver opens his parachute. A short time later, the weight of the skydiver-parachute system and the drag force exert
Dimas [21]

A falling skydiver opens his parachute. A short time later, the weight of the skydiver-parachute system and the drag force exerted on the system are equal in magnitude. The following statements predicts the motion of the skydiver at this time

The skydiver is moving downward with constant speed.

Explanation:

Immediately on leaving the aircraft, the skydiver accelerates downwards due to the force of gravity. There is no air resistance acting in the upwards direction, and there is a resultant force acting downwards. The skydiver accelerates towards the ground.

The forces acting on a falling leaf are : gravity and air resistance.

The net force and the acceleration on the falling skydiver is upward.

An upward net force on a downward falling object would cause that object to slow down. The skydiver thus slows down.

As the speed decreases, the amount of air resistance also decreases until once more the skydiver reaches a terminal velocity.

A skydiver falling at a constant speed opens his parachute. When the skydiver is falling, the forces are unbalanced.
