A team of eight dogs pulls a sled with waxed wood runners on wet snow (mush!). The dogs have average masses of 19.0 kg, and the

loaded sled with its rider has a mass of 210 kg. (a) Calculate the magnitude of the acceleration starting from rest if each dog exerts an average force of 185 N backward on the snow. (b) What is the magnitude of the acceleration once the sled starts to move

Answer

given,

number of dog = 8

mass of each dog= 19 Kg

mass of sled = 210 Kg

average force = 185 Nss

a) writing all the horizontal force

   force acting by dog - friction force = (M + 8m) a

   8 F_d - μ m g = (M + 8m) a

assuming coefficient of friction of snow be μ = 0.14

    8 x 185 - 0.14 x 210 x 9.8 = (210 + 8 x 19 ) x a

               a = 3.29 m/s²

b)  the kinetic friction of coefficient is less than static friction

 hence, we can suggest that acceleration of the sled will increase once the sled start to move.

                a > 3.29 m/s²

Water runs into a fountain, filling all the pipes, at a steady rate of 0.750 m3>s. (a) How fast will it shoot out of a hole 4
kati45 [8]

Answer:

velocity  = 472 m/s

velocity = 52.4 m/s

Explanation:

given data

steady rate = 0.750 m³/s

diameter = 4.50 cm

solution

we use here flow rate formula that is

flow rate = Area × velocity .............1

0.750 = \frac{\pi }{4} × (4.50×10^{-2})²  × velocity

solve it we get

velocity  = 472 m/s

and

when it 3 time diameter

put valuer in equation 1

0.750 = \frac{\pi }{4} × 3 ×  (4.50×10^{-2})²  × velocity

velocity = 52.4 m/s

Imagine that you are sitting in a closed room (no windows, no doors) when, magically, it is lifted from Earth and sent accelerat
Alik [6]

Answer:

You won't feel any change and will have no way to know that you've left the earth.

Explanation:

One of the formulations of the principle says that the properties of an inertial system under the effect of a gravitational field are the same as a non-inertial(accelerated) system. The inertial system under the effect of a gravitational field occurs when you are in the room on earth, and when the room is sent accelerating through space you have the non-inertial system. Both have the same properties, so it's impossible to tell the difference if you can't look outside.

If the universe is sufficiently dense, gravity will someday pull it all back together in an event called ________, sort of like
AleksandrR [38]

Answer:

Big Crunch.

Explanation:

Big Crunch is defined as the event which defines the universe's ultimate fate, in this process the universe expansion will reverse which causes the cosmic factor will reach to zero and this is followed by an event which causes the reformation of universe with another Big bang.

The Scenario of the Big Crunch hypothesis that the matter density throughout the universe is extremely high and can be say that it sufficiently dense by which, the attraction through gravity is too large which can overcome the universe's expansion and it can be say that it is the big bang in reverse.

777dan777 [17]

<em>Choice-A </em>is a true statement. The string holding the ball in orbit is a contact force, whereas gravity is a non-contact force.

Choice-C is half-true.  The string keeps the distance between the bodies constant, but gravity doesn't "MAKE" the distance vary.
