Therefore, a method that does not involve Faraday's law must be used to solve this motional EMF problem. In fact, this problem is a good introduction to some of the ideas behind Faraday's law. or

simply,      

F = q\times v\times B sin\theta

E = \frac{F}{q}

= \frac{(q \times  v_i \times  B_k \times sin 90^{\circ})}{ q}
