Mixtures and compounds are a combination of two or more substances. A mixture could be like coffee and water or salt and water ie like a solution and a compound can be like a mineral say galena which is a combination of lead and sulfur both distinct elements which also combine in certain proportions. The result of a mixture or a compound is that the product most likely will have some different characteristics than the original substances taken by themselves.

Using only the following elements P, Br, and Mg, give the formulas for:A. an ionic compound. B. a molecular compound with polar
Talja [164]

Answer:

1. Ionic compound- MgBr_2

2. Polar molecular compound- PBr_3

Explanation:

Mg is a metal that has 12 atomic numbers and thus its electronic configuration is 1s^22s^22p^63s^2. The outer most shell of this element has 2 electrons so it loses 2 electrons and thus form Mg^2^+ ions. Br is a nonmetal and has 35 atomic number so its electronic configuration is 1s^22s^22p^63s^23p^64s^23d^1^04p^5. Since its outermost shell has 7 electrons so it can accept one electron and thus forms Br^-. So magnesium ion and bromide ion combine and forms an ionic compound MgBr_2.

P is also a nonmetal and combine with Br with covalent bond and due to electronegativity differences form polar covalent compound such as PBr_3.

The end point of a titration is defined as the volume of titrant added, while the equivalence point is the volume required for c
natka813 [3]

Answer:

indicator

Explanation:

Indicators are the weak organic dyes which shows different colors in acidic and basic mediums.

Due to the fact that a noticeable pH change occurs near the equivalence point of acid-base titrations, an indicator can be used to signal the end point of a titration.

Therefore, choosing the proper indicator, scientists can minimize the difference in these two numbers, allowing more accurate measurements in the lab.

25 g of ethyl alcohol is dissolved in 100 ml of water (density = 0.99993 at 20 oc). what is the % w/w for the ethyl alcohol in t
vitfil [10]
Percentage by mass is the amount in mass of a component in a mixture per 100 unit of mass of the total mixture. Percentage by mass is the same as %w/w. We can determine this by dividing the mass of the solute with the total mass of the mixture. However, from the problem statement, we are given the volume of the water so there is a need to convert this value to mass by using the density of water. We calculate as follows:

Mass of solution = 100 mL (0.99993 g/mL) water + 25 g EtOH
Mass of solution = 124.993 g solution

%w/w = 25 g / 124.993 g x100
%w/w = 20% of EtOH

Consider the formation of nitryl fluoride: 2NO2(g)+F2(g)⇌2NO2F(g) The reaction is first order in F2 and second order overall. Wh
Dahasolnce [82]

Answer:

Rate = k[NO_{2}][F_{2}]

Explanation:

 • Two reactants are present in this reaction which are NO_{2}and F_{2}
 • We know overall order of a reaction is summation of individual order with respect to reactants present in rate law equation.
 • Here, overall order of reaction is 2 including first order with respect to F_{2}
 • So, rate of reaction should also be first order with respect to another reactant i.e. first order with respect to NO_{2}
 • So, rate law: rate = k[NO_{2}][F_{2}]
