Answer:

V2 = 1.33m/s

Explanation:

M1 = 30 ton

M2 = 90 ton

V1 = 4 m/s

V2 = ?

Assumption: momentum conserved, no friction

initial momentum = final momentum = 0

momentum : p = MV

(M1*V1) - (M2*V2) = 0

V2 = (30*4)/90 = 1.33m/s

A box is at rest on a ramp at an incline of 22°. The normal force on the box is 538 N.
fomenos

Answer: 580 N

Refer to attached figure.

The angle of inclination is 22 degrees

weight (gravitational force) acts downwards.

Normal force is a contact force which acts perpendicular to the point of contact.

The horizontal component (mg cos 22 ) balances the normal force and the vertical component balances the frictional force.

Gravitational force on an object = mg

The normal force N= mg cos 22

\Rightarrow mg =\frac{N}{cos22}=\frac{538 N}{0.927}=580 N

Two identical carts travel at the same speed toward each other, and then a collision occurs. The graphs show the momentum of eac
madam [21]

Explanation :

The interaction between two objects is termed as the collision. The collision can be of two types i.e. elastic collision and inelastic collision.

In this case, two identical carts travel at the same speed toward each other, and then a collision occurs. In an inelastic collision, the momentum before and after the collision remains the same but its kinetic energy gets lost.

After the collision, both the object sticks over each other and moves with one velocity.

Out of the given graph, the graph that shows a perfectly inelastic collision is attached. It shows that after the collision both the carts move with the same velocity.

Someone fires a 0.04 kg bullet at a block of wood that has a mass of 0.5 kg. (The block of wood is sitting on a frictionless sur
d1i1m1o1n [39]

Answer:

The speed of bullet and wooden bock coupled together, V = 22.22 m/s

Explanation:

Given that,

Mass of the bullet, m = 0.04 Kg

Mass of the wooden block, M = 0.5 Kg

The initial velocity of the bullet, u = 300 m/s

The initial velocity of the wooden block, U = 0 m/s

The final velocity of the bullet and wooden bock coupled together, V = 0 m/s

According to the conservation of linear momentum, the total momentum of the body after impact is equal to the total momentum before impact.

Therefore,

                              mV + MV = mu + MU

                               V(m+M) = mu

                                 V = mu/(m+M)

Substituting the values in the above equation,

                                V = 0.04 Kg x 300 m/s  / (0.04 Kg+ 0.5 Kg)

                                    = 22.22 m/s

Hence, the speed of bullet and wooden bock coupled together, V = 22.22 m/s
