A small ball is attached to the lower end of a 0.800-m-long string, and the other end of the string is tied to a horizontal rod.

The string makes a constant angle of 61.0 ∘ with the vertical as the ball moves at a constant speed in a horizontal circle.If it takes the ball 1.25 s to complete one revolution, what is the magnitude of the radial acceleration of the ball?

Answer:

a = 17.68 m/s²

Explanation:

given,

length of the string, L = 0.8 m

angle made with vertical, θ = 61°

time to complete 1 rev, t = 1.25 s

radial acceleration = ?

first we have to calculate the radius of the circle

 R = L sin θ

 R = 0.8 x sin 61°

 R = 0.7 m

now, calculating at the angular velocity

\omega =\dfrac{2\pi}{T}

\omega =\dfrac{2\pi}{1.25}

  ω = 5.026 rad/s

now, radial acceleration

 a = r ω²

 a = 0.7 x 5.026²

a = 17.68 m/s²

hence, the radial acceleration of the ball is equal to 17.68 rad/s²

De Vico Comet orbits the Sun every 74.0 years and has an orbital eccentricity of 0.96. Find the comet's average distance from th
Debora [2.8K]

Answer: The comet's average distance from the sun is 17.6AU

Explanation:

From Kepler's 3rd Law, P^2=a^3

Where P is period in years

and a is length of semi-major axis or the average distance of the comet to the sun.

Given the orbital period to be 74 years

74^2 =a^3

5476 = a^3

Cube root of 5476 =a

17.626 = a

Approximately a= 17.6 AU

A 6.0-cm-diameter, 11-cm-long cylinder contains 100 mg of oxygen (O2) at a pressure less than 1 atm. The cap on one end of the c
g100num [7]

Explanation:

The given data  is as follows.

Mass of oxygen present = 100 mg = 100 \times 10^{-3} g

So, moles of oxygen present are calculated as follows.

      n = \frac{100 \times 10^{-3}}{32}

         = 3.125 \times 10^{-3} moles

Diameter of cylinder = 6 cm = 6 \times 10^{-2} m

                              = 0.06 m

Now, we will calculate the cross sectional area (A) as follows.

    A = \pi \times \frac{(0.06)^{2}}{4}

        = 2.82 \times 10^{-3} m^{2}

Length of tube = 11 cm = 0.11 m

Hence, volume (V) = 2.82 \times 10^{-3} \times 0.11

                              = 3.11 \times 10^{-4} m^{3}

Now, we assume that the inside pressure is P .

And,   P_{atm} = 100 kPa = 100000 Pa,

Pressure difference = 100000 - P

Hence, force required to open is as follows.

      Force = Pressure difference × A

                = (100000 - P) \times 2.82 \times 10^{-3}

We are given that force is 173 N.

Thus,

         (100000 - P) \times 2.82 \times 10^{-3} = 173

Solving we get,

          P = 3.8650 \times 10^{4} Pa

            = 38.65 kPa

According to the ideal gas equation, PV = nRT

So, we will put the values into the above formula as follows.

                PV = nRT

    38.65 \times 3.11 \times 10^{-4} = 3.125 \times 10^{-3} \times 8.314 \times T

                    T = 462.66 K

Thus, we can conclude that temperature of the gas is 462.66 K.

MArishka [77]

Answer:

Horizontal component: F_x = 58\ N

Vertical component: F_y = 33.5\ N

Explanation:

To find the horizontal and vertical components of the force, we just need to multiply the magnitude of the force by the cosine and sine of the angle with the horizontal, respectively.

Therefore, for the horizontal component, we have:

F_x = F * cos(angle)

F_x = 67 * cos(30)

F_x = 58\ N

For the vertical component, we have:

F_y = F * sin(angle)

F_y = 67 * sin(30)

F_y = 33.5\ N

So the horizontal component of the tension force is 58 N and the vertical component is 33.5 N.

A plane has an average air speed (this is the speed the plane moves through air) of 750 mph. The plane flies a route of 5000 mil
Digiron [165]

Answer:

6 hours 15 minutes

Explanation:

On the trip from L.A. to London, the plane travels at 750 mph against a headwind of 50 mph, and that makes the net 700 mph (in aviation speak, 750 is the airspeed, while 700 is the groundspeed).  5000 miles divided by 700 mph results in about 7.14 hours, or about 7 hours and 9 minutes.  On the return trip, ASSUMING THE SAME WIND, the plane travels at 750 mph, but this time the wind of 50 mph is a tail wind.  So the net (groundspeed) is 800 mph.  Traveling 5000 miles at 800 mph only takes 6.25 hours, or 6 hours and 15 minutes.

Outbound flight 7 hours 9 minutes

Return flight 6 hours 15 minutes
